Abstract

A method for handling failures in the execution flow of provisioning operations is disclosed. The method may comprise receiving, by a cloud infrastructure system, an error from the execution flow of provisioning a service from a plurality of service provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices. Additionally, the method may further comprise determining, by a computing device from the one or more computing devices, a specific service associated with the error and determining an error classification type associated with the error based on the specific service. Subsequently, the method may further comprise performing, by the computing device, a corrective action based on the specific service and the error type.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

storing, by a cloud infrastructure system, an error from provisioning a service from a plurality of service provided by the cloud infrastructure system, the cloud infrastructure system comprising one or more computing devices;

determining, by a computing device from the one or more computing devices, a specific service associated with the error;

determining, by the computing device, an error classification type associated with the error based on the specific service;

performing, by the computing device, a corrective action based on the specific service and the error type.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the specific service associated with the error includes a database cloud service, a Java cloud service, a middleware cloud service, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service, or a talent management service.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the error classification type includes a fatal error, a retry error and a stalled error.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, if the determined classification type is the stalled error.

5. The method of claim 3, wherein the computing device notifies an administrator about the error, if the determined classification type is the fatal error.

6. The method of claim 3, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, and wherein the computing device stores a retry counter that increments with each retry, if the determined classification type is the retry error.

7. The method of claim 6, the method further comprising:

determining, by the computing device, a retry limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error, wherein the retry limit is associated with a maximum number of retries.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the computing device stops the retries for provisioning the service when the retry counter equals the retry limit.

9. The method of claim 7, the method further comprising:

determining, by the computing device, an alert limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error and the retry limit, wherein an alert notification is sent to an administrator when the retry counter equals the alert limit.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the determined classification type is the retry error, the method further comprising:

determining, by the computing device, a time duration between retries based on the determined specific service associated with the error.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein a corrective action includes notifying an administrator about the error or retrying provisioning the service associated with the error.

12. A system comprising:

one or more computing devices configurable to offer a set of cloud services;

a memory configurable to store an error from provisioning a service from the set of cloud services; and

wherein a computing device from the one or more computing devices is configurable to;

determine a specific service associated with the error;

determine an error classification type associated with the error based on the specific service; and

perform a corrective action based on the specific service and the error type.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the specific service associated with the error includes a database cloud service, a Java cloud service, a middleware cloud service, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service, or a talent management service.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the error classification type includes a fatal error, a retry error and a stalled error.

15. The system of claim 14, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, if the determined classification type is the stalled error.

16. The system of claim 14, wherein the computing device notifies an administrator about the error, if the determined classification type is the fatal error.

17. The system of claim 14, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, and wherein the computing device stores a retry counter that increments with each retry, if the determined classification type is the retry error.

18. The system of claim 17, further configured to:

determine a retry limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error, wherein the retry limit is associated with a maximum number of retries.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the computing device stops the retries for provisioning the service when the retry counter equals the retry limit.

20. The system of claim 18, further configured to:

determining, by the computing device, an alert limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error and the retry limit, wherein an alert notification is sent to an administrator when the retry counter equals the alert limit.

21. The system of claim 17, wherein the determined classification type is the retry error, the system further configured to:

determine a time duration between retries based on the determined specific service associated with the error.

22. The system of claim 12, wherein a corrective action includes notifying an administrator about the error or retrying provisioning the service associated with the error.

23. One or more computer-readable media storing computer-executable instructions for a cloud infrastructure system configured to offer a set of cloud services that, when executed, cause one or more computing device in the cloud infrastructure system to:

store an error from provisioning a service from the set of cloud services;

determine a specific service associated with the error;

determine an error classification type associated with the error based on the specific service; and

perform a corrective action based on the specific service and the error type.

24. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, wherein the specific service associated with the error includes a database cloud service, a Java cloud service, a middleware cloud service, a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) service, or a talent management service.

25. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 24, wherein the error classification type includes a fatal error, a retry error and a stalled error.

26. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 25, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, if the determined classification type is the stalled error.

27. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 25, wherein the computing device notifies an administrator about the error, if the determined classification type is the fatal error.

28. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 25, wherein the computing device retries provisioning the service associated with the error, and wherein the computing device stores a retry counter that increments with each retry, if the determined classification type is the retry error.

29. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 28, further comprising instructions to:

determine a retry limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error, wherein the retry limit is associated with a maximum number of retries.

30. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 29, wherein the computing device stops the retries for provisioning the service when the retry counter equals the retry limit.

31. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 29, further comprising instructions to:

determining, by the computing device, an alert limit based on the determined specific service associated with the error and the retry limit, wherein an alert notification is sent to an administrator when the retry counter equals the alert limit.

32. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 28, wherein the determined classification type is the retry error, further comprising instructions to:

determine a time duration between retries based on the determined specific service associated with the error.

33. The one or more computer-readable media of claim 23, wherein a corrective action includes notifying an administrator about the error or retrying provisioning the service associated with the error.
