Abstract

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. In an aspect, the apparatus may receive a set of configurations for an EPDCCH that are tied to a set of configurations received for a PDSCH. The apparatus may then receive and process the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the set of configurations for the EPDCCH. In another aspect, the apparatus may determine at least a first and second resource set configured for a control channel and may determine a common set of aggregation levels for the first and second resource sets. The apparatus may further determine first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set, and may process the control channel using the common set of aggregation levels and the first and second rate-matching parameters.

Claims

1. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

receiving a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

receiving a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

receiving the EPDCCH; and

processing the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the second set of configurations.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein:

the second set of configurations includes a first EPDCCH configuration and a second EPDCCH configuration,

the received EPDCCH is received on a first resource set and a second resource set,

the first EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the first resource set, and

the second EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the second resource set.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the first set of configurations includes four PDSCH configurations and the second set of configurations includes two EPDCCH configurations that are a subset from among the four PDSCH configurations.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the second set of configurations is selected from the first set of configurations based on a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the PDSCH is implemented in a coordinated multipoint system.

6. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

determining at least a first resource set and a second resource set configured for a control channel;

determining a common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and second resource set;

determining first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set; and

processing the control channel using at least the common set of aggregation levels and the first rate-matching parameters and second rate-matching parameters.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the determining the common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and the second resource sets comprises determining:

a first number of available resources in the first resource set,

a second number of available resources in the second resource set,

or both.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the determining the common set of aggregation levels further comprises:

comparing the first number of available resources to a threshold value, the second number of available resources to the threshold value, or both; and

selecting the common set of aggregation levels based on the comparison.

9. The method of claim 6, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) in the first resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CSI-RS in the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all of the CSI-RS on the second resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CSI-RS on the second resource set.

10. The method of claim 6, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all cell-specific reference signals (CRS) in the first resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CRS on the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all of the CRS on the second resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CRS in the second resource set.

11. The method of claim 6, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are determined based on a first radio resource control (RRC) configuration and the second rate-matching parameters are determined based on a second RRC configuration.

12. The method of claim 6, wherein the control channel is an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH).

13. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

determining whether a starting symbol of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) is an initial symbol in a subframe based on an EPDCCH configuration; and

refraining from decoding a subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the starting symbol of the EPDCCH is the initial symbol in the subframe.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the refraining comprises refraining from decoding the subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the subframe does not include a downlink broadcast transmission.

15. The method of claim 13, wherein the EPDCCH configuration identifies a first EPDCCH resource set and a second EPDCCH resource set, and wherein the refraining comprises refraining from decoding the subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when a starting symbol of the first EPDCCH resource set and a starting symbol of the second EPDCCH resource set both comprise the initial symbol in the subframe.

16. The method of claim 13, wherein the legacy control channels comprise at least one of:

a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH),

a physical hybrid-ARQ indicator channel (PHICH),

or a combination thereof.

17. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

configuring a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

configuring a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

transmitting the first set of configurations for the PDSCH and the second set of configurations for the EPDCCH; and

transmitting the EPDCCH.

18. The method of claim 17, wherein:

the second set of configurations includes a first EPDCCH configuration and a second EPDCCH configuration,

the transmitted EPDCCH is transmitted on a first resource set and a second resource set,

the first EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the first resource set, and

the second EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the second resource set.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the first set of configurations includes four PDSCH configurations and the second set of configurations includes two EPDCCH configurations that are a subset from among the four PDSCH configurations.

20. The method of claim 17, wherein the second set of configurations is selected from the first of configurations based on a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.

21. The method of claim 17, wherein the PDSCH is implemented in a coordinated multipoint system.

22. A method of wireless communication, comprising:

configuring at least a first resource set and a second resource set for a control channel, wherein the first and second resource sets are configured with a common reference signal configuration;

configuring first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set;

transmitting the first rate-matching parameters and the second rate-matching parameters; and

transmitting the control channel using the first resource set and the second resource set.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the common reference signal configuration comprises at least a common channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) configuration or a common reference signals (CRS) configuration.

24. The method of claim 22, wherein the first rate-matching parameters indicate that control channel resource elements (REs) are rate-matched around all channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) in the first resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CSI-RS in the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all of the CSI-RS on the second resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CSI-RS on the second resource set.

25. The method of claim 22, wherein the first rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all cell-specific reference signals (CRS) in the first resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CRS on the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all of the CRS on the second resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CRS in the second resource set.

26. The method of claim 22, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured via a first radio resource control (RRC) configuration and the second rate-matching parameters are configured via a second RRC configuration.

27. The method of claim 22, wherein the control channel is an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH).

28. An apparatus of wireless communication, comprising:

means for receiving a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

means for receiving a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

means for receiving the EPDCCH; and

means for processing the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the second set of configurations.

29. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

means for determining at least a first resource set and a second resource set configured for a control channel;

means for determining a common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and second resource set;

means for determining first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set; and

means for processing the control channel using at least the common set of aggregation levels and the first rate-matching parameters and second rate-matching parameters.

30. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

means for determining whether a starting symbol of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) is an initial symbol in a subframe based on an EPDCCH configuration; and

means for refraining from decoding a subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the starting symbol of the EPDCCH is the initial symbol in the subframe.

31. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

means for configuring a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

means for configuring a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

means for transmitting the first set of configurations for the PDSCH and the second set of configurations for the EPDCCH; and

means for transmitting the EPDCCH.

32. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

means for configuring at least a first resource set and a second resource set for a control channel, wherein the first and second resource sets are configured with a common reference signal configuration;

means for configuring first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set;

means for transmitting the first rate-matching parameters and the second rate-matching parameters; and

means for transmitting the control channel using the first resource set and the second resource set.

33. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

receive a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

receive a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

receive the EPDCCH; and

process the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the second set of configurations.

34. The apparatus of claim 33, wherein:

the second set of configurations includes a first EPDCCH configuration and a second EPDCCH configuration,

the received EPDCCH is received on a first resource set and a second resource set,

the first EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the first resource set, and

the second EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the second resource set.

35. The apparatus of claim 34, wherein the first set of configurations includes four PDSCH configurations and the second set of configurations includes two EPDCCH configurations that are a subset from among the four PDSCH configurations.

36. The apparatus of claim 33, wherein the second set of configurations is selected from the first set of configurations based on a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.

37. The apparatus of claim 33, wherein the PDSCH is implemented in a coordinated multipoint system.

38. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

determine at least a first resource set and a second resource set configured for a control channel;

determine a common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and second resource set;

determine first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set; and

process the control channel using at least the common set of aggregation levels and the first rate-matching parameters and second rate-matching parameters.

39. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein the determining the common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and the second resource sets comprises determining:

a first number of available resources in the first resource set,

a second number of available resources in the second resource set,

or both.

40. The apparatus of claim 39, wherein the determining the common set of aggregation levels further comprises:

comparing the first number of available resources to a threshold value, the second number of available resources to the threshold value, or both; and

selecting the common set of aggregation levels based on the comparison.

41. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) in the first resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CSI-RS in the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all of the CSI-RS on the second resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CSI-RS on the second resource set.

42. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all cell-specific reference signals (CRS) in the first resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CRS on the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters are configured to rate-match around all of the CRS on the second resource set or rate-match around a subset of the CRS in the second resource set.

43. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are determined based on a first radio resource control (RRC) configuration and the second rate-matching parameters are determined based on a second RRC configuration.

44. The apparatus of claim 38, wherein the control channel is an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH).

45. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

determine whether a starting symbol of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) is an initial symbol in a subframe based on an EPDCCH configuration; and

refrain from decoding a subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the starting symbol of the EPDCCH is the initial symbol in the subframe.

46. The apparatus of claim 45, wherein the refraining comprises refraining from decoding the subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the subframe does not include a downlink broadcast transmission.

47. The apparatus of claim 45, wherein the EPDCCH configuration identifies a first EPDCCH resource set and a second EPDCCH resource set, and wherein the refraining comprises refraining from decoding the subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when a starting symbol of the first EPDCCH resource set and a starting symbol of the second EPDCCH resource set both comprise the initial symbol in the subframe.

48. The apparatus of claim 45, wherein the legacy control channels comprise at least one of:

a physical control format indicator channel (PCFICH),

a physical hybrid-ARQ indicator channel (PHICH),

or a combination thereof.

49. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

configure a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

configure a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

transmit the first set of configurations for the PDSCH and the second set of configurations for the EPDCCH; and

transmit the EPDCCH.

50. The apparatus of claim 49, wherein:

the second set of configurations includes a first EPDCCH configuration and a second EPDCCH configuration,

the transmitted EPDCCH is transmitted on a first resource set and a second resource set,

the first EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the first resource set, and

the second EPDCCH configuration is defined for processing the EPDCCH on the second resource set.

51. The apparatus of claim 50, wherein the first set of configurations includes four PDSCH configurations and the second set of configurations includes two EPDCCH configurations that are a subset from among the four PDSCH configurations.

52. The apparatus of claim 49, wherein the second set of configurations is selected from the first of configurations based on a radio resource control (RRC) configuration.

53. The apparatus of claim 49, wherein the PDSCH is implemented in a coordinated multipoint system.

54. An apparatus for wireless communication, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

configure at least a first resource set and a second resource set for a control channel, wherein the first and second resource sets are configured with a common reference signal configuration;

configure first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set;

transmit the first rate-matching parameters and the second rate-matching parameters; and

transmit the control channel using the first resource set and the second resource set.

55. The apparatus of claim 54, wherein the common reference signal configuration comprises at least a common channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) configuration or a common reference signals (CRS) configuration.

56. The apparatus of claim 54, wherein the first rate-matching parameters indicate that control channel resource elements (REs) are rate-matched around all channel state information reference signals (CSI-RS) in the first resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CSI-RS in the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all of the CSI-RS on the second resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CSI-RS on the second resource set.

57. The apparatus of claim 54, wherein the first rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all cell-specific reference signals (CRS) in the first resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CRS on the first resource set, and

wherein the second rate-matching parameters indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around all of the CRS on the second resource set or indicate that the control channel REs are rate-matched around a subset of the CRS in the second resource set.

58. The apparatus of claim 54, wherein the first rate-matching parameters are configured via a first radio resource control (RRC) configuration and the second rate-matching parameters are configured via a second RRC configuration.

59. The apparatus of claim 54, wherein the control channel is an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH).

60. A computer program product, stored on a computer-readable medium, comprising code for:

receiving a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

receiving a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

receiving the EPDCCH; and

processing the EPDCCH based on at least one configuration from the second set of configurations.

61. A computer program product, stored on a computer-readable medium, comprising code for:

determining at least a first resource set and a second resource set configured for a control channel;

determining a common set of aggregation levels for the first resource set and second resource set;

determining first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set; and

processing the control channel using at least the common set of aggregation levels and the first rate-matching parameters and second rate-matching parameters.

62. A computer program product, stored on a computer-readable medium, comprising code for:

determining whether a starting symbol of an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH) is an initial symbol in a subframe; and

refraining from decoding a subset of legacy control channels in the subframe when the starting symbol of the EPDCCH is the initial symbol in the subframe.

63. A computer program product, stored on a computer-readable medium, comprising code for:

configuring a first set of configurations for a physical downlink shared channel (PDSCH), each configuration in the first set of configurations defining at least one of a starting symbol, rate-matching information, or a quasi-co-location (QCL) indication;

configuring a second set of configurations for an enhanced physical downlink control channel (EPDCCH), the second set of configurations being a subset from among the first set of configurations;

transmitting the first set of configurations for the PDSCH and the second set of configurations for the EPDCCH; and

transmitting the EPDCCH.

64. A computer program product, stored on a computer-readable medium, comprising code for:

configuring at least a first resource set and a second resource set for a control channel, wherein the first and second resource sets are configured with a common reference signal configuration;

configuring first rate-matching parameters for the first resource set and second rate-matching parameters for the second resource set;

transmitting the first rate-matching parameters and the second rate-matching parameters; and

transmitting the control channel using the first resource set and the second resource set.
