1. A compound selected from the group consisting of:

-dihydroxystilbene;

-linoleate-3,5-dihydroxystilbene;

3,5-dilinoleate-4′

-hydroxystilbene;

3,4′

-dilinoleate-5-hydroxystilbene;

,5-dilinoleate-3-hydroxystilbene;

3,5,4′

-trilinoleate stilbene;

3-linolenate-5,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

5-linolenate-3,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

-linolenate-3,5-dihydroxystilbene;

3,5-dilinolenate-4′

-hydroxystilbene;

3,4′

-dilinolenate-5-hydroxystilbene;

,5-dilinolenate-3-hydroxystilbene; and

2. The compound of claim 1 selected from the group consisting of:

3. The compound of claim 1 selected from the group consisting of:

4. A topical composition comprising a compound selected from the group consisting of:

3-linoleate-5,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

5-linoleate-3,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

4′

-linoleate-3,5-dihydroxystilbene;

3,5-dilinoleate-4′

-hydroxystilbene;

3,4′

-dilinoleate-5-hydroxystilbene;

4′

,5-dilinoleate-3-hydroxystilbene;

3,5,4′

-trilinoleate stilbene;

3-linolenate-5,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

5-linolenate-3,4′

-dihydroxystilbene;

4′

-linolenate-3,5-dihydroxystilbene;

3,5-dilinolenate-4′

-hydroxystilbene;

3,4′

-dilinolenate-5-hydroxystilbene;

4′

,5-dilinolenate-3-hydroxystilbene; and

3,5,4′

-trilinolenate stilbene.

5. The composition of claim 4 in the form of a water-in-oil or an oil-in-water emulsion.

6. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a silicone elastomer.

7. The composition of claim 4 further comprising particulates.

8. The composition of claim 4 in the anhydrous form.

9. The composition of claim 4 further comprising at least one botanical extract.

10. The composition of claim 4 further comprising N-acetyl glucosamine.

11. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a UVA or UVB sunscreen.

12. The composition of claim 4 further comprising at least one nonionic organic surfactant.

13. The composition of claim 4 which is a skin cream or lotion, foundation makeup, blush, concealer, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, or lipstick.

14. The composition of claim 4 which is an oil-in-water skin cré

me or lotion additionally comprising at least one ester.

15. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a linear or cyclic silicone.

16. The composition of claim 4 further comprising an acrylate polymer thickening agent.

17. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a montmorillonite mineral.

18. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a silicone surfactant.

19. The composition of claim 4 further comprising a humectants.

20. The composition of claim 4 further comprising at least one vitamin or antioxidant.
