Abstract

The teachings described herein are generally directed to a system, method, and apparatus for separating and mixing tracks within music. The system can have components that include a processor, an input device, a database, a transformation module, an emulation recording module, an integration engine, an output module, and an output device, wherein each component is operable in itself to perform it'"'"'s function in the system and operable with other system components to provide a system to a listener of music.

Claims

1. A variable gain system for separating and mixing audio tracks from a pre-recorded musical work, the system comprising:

a processor;

a pre-recorded, multi-track recording on a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, the pre-recorded, multi-track recording having a pre-recorded, isolated instrument audio track that is separable from the remainder of the pre-recorded, multi-track recording;

a transformation module on a non-transitory computer readable storage medium for transforming the multi-track digital audio file into a variety of ratios of track volumes between at least two tracks within the pre-recorded, multi-track recording, where a track volume includes a gain selection, the gain selection ranging from a minimum volume to a maximum volume and including at least three settings;

wherein,

the transformation module is operably connected to the processor and enables the separation and mixing of tracks in the pre-recorded multi-track recording; and

,

the system facilitates (i) a recording of an emulated instrument audio track on a computer readable medium by a user of the system and (ii) a remixing of the recording by the user with the remainder of the pre-recorded multi-track recording.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the pre-recorded, multi-track recording is an original work.

3. The system of claim 1 having an isolated instrument audio track and an emulation audio track, as well as a means for independently adjusting the volume of each of the isolated instrument audio track and the emulation audio track.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising a variable timing reference track that was created from a tempo map, the tempo map created after the recording of the original, multi-track recording and using variable tempos, rhythms, and beats using notes from the original, multi-track recording.

5. The system of claim 1, wherein the transport state selection includes tempo speed control.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is contained in a hand-held device.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is contained in a cellular device.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is contained in a handheld video gaming console.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the system is operable to function as a particular machine or apparatus directed to separating and mixing audio tracks and not having other substantial functions.

10. A variable gain method for enabling listeners of pre-recorded musical works to separate and mix audio tracks from a pre-recorded musical works, the method comprising:

obtaining a pre-recorded, multi-track recording on a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, the pre-recorded, multi-track recording having a pre-recorded, isolated instrument audio track that is separable from the remainder of the pre-recorded, multi-track recording;

offering a system operable for

reversibly changing independent track volumes in the pre-recorded, multi-track recording to create a mix of track volumes, the mix having at least one audible track remaining within the pre-recorded, multi-track recording; and

,

creating and recording an emulated track using a processor, and remixing the emulated track with the remainder of the pre-recorded, multi-track recording;

wherein, a changed track volume ranges from a minimum volume to a maximum volume and includes at least three settings, the changing providing a listener with an ability to separate and mix tracks in the pre-recorded multi-track recording.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the pre-recorded, multi-track recording is an original work.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the reversibly changing independent track volumes includes changing an isolated instrument audio track volume, an emulation audio track volume, or a combination thereof.

The method of claim 10, further comprising enabling the viewing of a music transcription and tablature data on a graphical user interface, the graphical user interface displaying a looping page showing a bar or bars of the preselected piece of music for repeated playback, wherein the bar or bars are selected by the user for the repeated playback through a transport state selection that indicates a position in the piece of music according to a tempo map.

14. The method of claim 10, further comprising enabling the exchanging of data with an external non-transitory computer readable storage media.

15. A handheld, variable gain system for separating and mixing audio tracks from a pre-recorded musical work, the handheld system comprising:

a processor;

a pre-recorded, multi-track recording on a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, the pre-recorded, multi-track recording having a pre-recorded, isolated instrument audio track that is separable from the remainder of the pre-recorded, multi-track recording; and

,

a transformation module on a non-transitory computer readable storage medium for transforming the multi-track digital audio file into a variety of ratios of track volumes between at least two tracks within the pre-recorded, multi-track recording, where a track volume includes a gain selection, the gain selection ranging from a minimum volume to a maximum volume and including at least three settings;

wherein,

the processor, the pre-recorded, multi-track recording, and the transformation module are operably connected in a handheld system;

the transformation module is operably connected to the processor and enables the separation and mixing of tracks in the pre-recorded multi-track recording; and

,

the handheld system facilitates (i) a recording of an emulated instrument audio track on a computer readable medium by a user of the system and (ii) a remixing of the recording by the user with the remainder of the pre-recorded multi-track recording.

16. The handheld system of claim 15, wherein the pre-recorded, multi-track recording is an original work.

17. The handheld system of claim 15, further comprising a variable timing reference track that was created from a tempo map, the tempo map created after the recording of the pre-recorded, multi-track recording and using variable tempos, rhythms, or beats using notes from the pre-recorded, multi-track recording.

18. The handheld system of claim 15, wherein the transport state selection includes tempo speed control.

19. The handheld system of claim 15, wherein the system is contained in a handheld cellular device.

20. The handheld system of claim 15, wherein the system is contained in a handheld video gaming console.
