Abstract

The present invention is directed a system including a vehicle monitoring device coupled to a vehicle configured to retrieve vehicle information from a vehicle diagnostic system of the vehicle and transmit the vehicle information to an off-board device via a communication relay device to receive the vehicle information and display the received vehicle information based at least in part on information of the one or more recipients.

Claims

1. A system for forwarding vehicle information, comprising:

a processor configured to retrieve the vehicle information from a vehicle diagnostic system of a vehicle;

a memory configured to store information of one or more recipients of the vehicle information selected by a user; and

a communications circuit configured to transmit the vehicle information to an off-board device of the one or more recipients selected by the user via a communication relay device based at least in part on the information of the one or more recipients.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the communication circuitry transmits the vehicle information via one of a wired and a wireless connection.

3. The system of claim 2, wherein the communications circuitry translates the vehicle information from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol.

4. The system of claim 1, wherein the communication relay device comprises a telecommunication circuitry that relays the vehicle information to the off-board device.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprises an interface circuitry configured to be connected to the communication relay device.

6. The system of claim 5, wherein the interface circuitry is at least one of the following:

a serial port, a USB port, an infrared port, an RS 232 port, an Ethernet port, a port and a Bluetooth port.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the communication relay device translates the vehicle information from a first communication protocol to a second communication protocol.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the off-board device interprets the vehicle information.

9. The system of claim 1, wherein the off-board device is configured to transmit one or more instructions via the communication relay device to change an operation of the vehicle.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the operation of the vehicle includes at least one of the following:

accelerating the vehicle, decelerating the vehicle, gear, shifting, and controlling indicator signals, lights, radios, A/C system, defogging system, navigation system, mirrors and ignition system.

11. The system of claim 1, wherein the vehicle information includes data about at least one of the following:

speed, revolution per minute (RPM), oil, temperature, tire pressure, engine oil, battery, child lock, mirrors, shift gear, lighting, warning indicator signals, navigation system, entertainment system, anti-theft system, windows, and camera system of the vehicle.

12. The system of claim 1, wherein the vehicle information includes at least one of the following:

diagnostic results of the vehicle, fault codes and failures of the vehicle.

13. The system of claim 1, wherein the information of one or more recipients include at least one of the following:

names, mailing addresses, relationship, telephone numbers, Internet Protocol (IP) addresses and media access control (MAC) addresses.

14. A method of forwarding vehicle information, comprising:

receiving information of one or more recipients of the vehicle information selected by a user;

retrieving, via a processor, the vehicle information from a vehicle diagnostic system of a vehicle;

transmitting, via a communication circuit, the vehicle information to an off-board device of the one or more recipients selected by the user via a communication relay device; and

receiving one or more instructions from the off-board device via the communication relay device to change an operation of the vehicle, wherein the one or more instructions are based at least in part on the vehicle information.

15. The method of claim 14, further comprising forwarding the one or more instructions to the vehicle.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein forwarding the one or more instruction to the vehicle comprises formatting the one or more instructions to a protocol of the vehicle.

17. The method of claim 14, wherein the vehicle information includes data about at least one of the following:

speed, revolution per minute (RPM), oil, temperature, tire pressure, engine oil, battery, child lock, mirrors, shift gear, lighting, warning indicator signals, navigation system, entertainment system, anti-theft system, windows, camera system, fault codes and failures of the vehicle.

18. The method of claim 14, wherein the vehicle information include at least one of diagnostic results of the vehicle, fault codes and failures of the vehicle.

19. The method of claim 14, wherein the one or more instructions include instructions to change a performance of different components of the vehicle including, engine, transmission, mirrors, lighting, navigation system, entertainment system, anti-theft system, windows and camera system of the vehicle.

20. A system for forwarding vehicle information, comprising:

a processor configured to receive one or more instructions to change an operation of a vehicle based at least in part on the vehicle information;

a memory configured to store the one or more instructions and the vehicle information, wherein the memory is in communication with the processor;

an instruction interface configured to process instructions from the processor; and

a communications circuit configured to transmit the one or more instructions to a vehicle monitoring device via a communication relay device.
