Abstract

A computer-implemented method is described. The computer-implemented method is used for populating data of a graphical user interface (GUI). The computer-implemented method includes generating one or more graphical elements of one or more activities captured by a monitoring device. The monitoring device is usable by a user during the capturing. The method further includes generating a timeline including a time period over which the activities are performed. The timeline includes a chronological order of time within the time period. The method further includes generating an activity symbol for one or more of the activities performed during the time period. The activity symbol has an image that is graphically overlaid on the graphical elements of the activities.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of geo-locations of a monitoring device, the monitoring device for use by a user while performing an activity;

receiving a plurality of activity parameters of the monitoring device, the plurality of activity parameters corresponding to the plurality of geo-locations;

receiving first and second time intervals of a time period during which the monitoring device achieves the plurality of activity parameters at the plurality of geo-locations;

determining a descriptive location of the monitoring device corresponding to the first and second time intervals based on at least one of the plurality of geo-locations and the plurality of activity parameters;

aggregating the first and second time intervals corresponding to the descriptive location to generate a combined amount of time;

determining first and second levels of one or more activities performed by the user based on the plurality of activity parameters;

aggregating the first and second levels to generate a combined activity level;

associating the combined activity level with the descriptive location and the combined amount of time; and

providing for display a representation of the association of the combined activity level, the descriptive location, and the combined amount of time,

wherein the method is executed by one or more processors.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the monitoring device includes a wrist watch, or a wristband, or a bracelet.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the activity parameters include activity data, or physiological parameters, or environmental parameters.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of activity parameters that correspond to the plurality of geo-locations is determined based on motions of the user while the user is using the monitoring device and is determined while the user is using the monitoring device at the geo-locations.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the first time interval of the time period includes a portion of a day and the second time interval of the time period includes a portion of the day.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein determining the descriptive location of the monitoring device corresponding to the first and second time intervals based on at least one of the plurality of geo-locations and the plurality of activity parameters include:

determining whether a location that is determined based on the geo-locations is different from a location that is determined based on a calculated set of motions, the motions calculated based on the activity parameters; and

assigning a description to the location determined based on the geo-locations and to the location determined based on the calculated set of motions in response to determining that the difference exists.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein aggregating the first and second time intervals includes adding the first and second time intervals.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein determining first and second levels of one or more activities performed by the user based on at least one of the plurality of activity parameters and the plurality of geo-locations comprising assigning the first and second levels to the activity parameters.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein aggregating the first and second levels to generate a combined activity level comprises summing the first and second levels to generate the combined activity level.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein associating the combined activity level with the descriptive location and the combined amount of time comprises determining a display position of the combined activity level in relation to a display position of the descriptive location and a display position of the combined amount of time.

11. A method comprising:

receiving a plurality of activity parameters of a monitoring device, the monitoring device for use by a user, the plurality of activity parameters generated based on motions of the user performed during a first time period in which the user is using the monitoring device;

receiving a geo-location of the monitoring device at which the motions are performed;

receiving a time at which the motions are performed and the geo-location is calculated;

computing an activity performed by the user based on at least one of an analysis of the activity parameters with respect to the time and an analysis of the geo-location;

determining that the activity is performed during the time of a second time period;

receiving the time during a third time period;

receiving the geo-location of the monitoring device for the third time period; and

determining based on the time corresponding to the third time period and the geo-location that the activity is to be performed by the user,

wherein the method is executed by one or more processors.

12. The method of claim 11, wherein each of the first time period, the second time period, and the third time period is the same amount of time period.

13. The method of claim 11, wherein computing an activity performed by the user based on at least one of an analysis of the activity parameters with respect to the time and an analysis of the geo-location comprises:

receiving positions associated with the motions of the user;

determining the activity based on a distance between the positions and directions of the motions;

determining a descriptive location based on the geo-location;

identifying an activity corresponding to the descriptive location; and

determining that the activity identified as corresponding to the descriptive location and the activity determined based on the distance between the positions and the directions of the motions are the same.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein receiving the geo-location of the monitoring device for the third time period comprises receiving the geo-location of the monitoring device that is determined during the third time period.

15. The method of claim 11, wherein further comprising sending a reminder to the monitoring device to remind the user to perform the activity upon determining that the activity is to be performed by the user.

16. A method comprising:

receiving an initial geo-location of a monitoring device, the monitoring device being for use by a user, the initial geo-location determined at a first time of day while the user is performing motions characterized by a first plurality of activity parameters;

identifying a first location of the monitoring device based on at least one of the initial geo-location and the first plurality of activity parameters;

receiving a destination geo-location of the monitoring device, the destination geo-location determined at a second time of day while the user is performing motions characterized by a second plurality of activity parameters;

identifying a second location of the monitoring device based on at least one of the destination geo-location and the second plurality of activity parameters, the first and second locations defining a route that is taken by the user while using the monitoring device;

determining whether the route has been traversed for a pre-determined number of times; and

assigning a location identifier to the first location or the second location upon determining that the route has been traversed for the pre-determined number of times,

wherein the method is executed by one or more processors.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the route is displayed on a display device showing traversal of the route by the user.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein the route is displayed on a display device to show locations traveled by a user along the route and activities performed by the user at the locations.

19. The method of claim 16, further comprising requesting validation of the location identifier via a display device from the user.

20. The method of claim 16, wherein the first location and the second location are not identified upon determining that the route has not been traversed for the pre-determined number of times.

21. The method of claim 16, wherein the route is traversed for the pre-determined number of times to identify a pattern, wherein the pattern is not identified in response to determining that the route has not been traversed for the pre-determined number of times.

22. The method of claim 16, wherein the first plurality of activity parameters are motion parameters associated with the initial geo-location, and the second plurality of activity parameters are motion parameters associated with the destination geo-location.

23. The method of claim 22, wherein the traversal along the route is a distance traversal motion.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising controlling the monitoring device to decrease a rate of obtaining geo-location data at the initial geo-location or at the destination geo-location compared to a rate of obtaining geo-location data during the traversal of the route.

25. A computer-readable medium containing programming instructions that cause a computer processor to perform the operations of:

generating a first graphical element representing one or more activities determined from positions or geo-locations captured at a location by a monitoring device, the monitoring device usable by a user;

generating a second graphical element including an identifier of the location; and

generating a third graphical element including an identifier of a time at which the activities are performed at the location.

26. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further comprising aligning the first, the second, and the third graphical elements with respect to each other.

27. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further comprising:

receiving a selection of the first graphical element representing the activities; and

generating a fourth graphical element including one or more activity levels of the activities upon receiving the selection.

28. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further comprising:

generating an identifier highlighting one of the activities performed using the monitoring device when a selection of one of the activity levels is received; and

generating an identifier highlighting the location of performance of the activities when the selection is received.

29. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further comprising providing an option to the user via a display device to associate another location with the geo-locations.

30. The computer-readable medium of claim 25, further comprising:

generating a graphical user interface that includes the first graphical element, the second graphical element, and the third graphical element, the first graphical element representing activity levels of the activities; and

generating a time line along which the third graphical element is presented in the graphical user interface.
