Abstract

A device and a method for editing text in a portable terminal are provided. The device includes displaying content comprising at least one unit of text, receiving an input of at least one unit of text through a first display area, changing to an editing mode for editing the content when the input text is released from the first display area while dragging the input text to replace a specific word included in the content located at a second display area, and replacing the specific word with the input text when the input text is completely dragged to the specific word.

Claims

1. A device for editing text in a portable terminal, the device comprising:

a display unit; and

a controller configured to display content comprising at least one unit of text on the display unit, receive an input of at least one unit of text through a first display area, change to an editing mode for editing the content, when the input text is released from the first display area while dragging the input text to replace a specific word included in the content located in a second display area, and replace the specific word with the input text when the input text is completely dragged to the specific word.

The device of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to receive, through the first display area, an input of the at least one unit of text comprising a specific word indicating an end of a sentence, change to the editing mode for editing the content, when the input text is released from the first display area while dragging the input text to replace the specific word included in the content, and replace the specific word included in the content with the input text when the input text is completely dragged to the specific word included in the content.

The device of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to change to the editing mode for editing the content, when a blank field of the first display area is released from the first display area while dragging the blank field to erase the specific word included in the content, and erase the specific word when the blank field is completely dragged to the specific word.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein the content comprises any one of an electronic document and a text message.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein the controller displays the text message together with a changed text message comprising the input text, according to predetermined message displaying methods, when the content comprises the text message.

6. The device of claim 5, wherein the controller displays the text message and the changed text message with different colors, according to a first method among the predetermined message displaying methods.

7. The device of claim 5, wherein the controller displays the text message and the changed text message comprising only the input text, according to a second method among the predetermined message displaying methods.

8. The device of claim 5, wherein the controller erases the text message according to predetermined message erasing methods, when erasing of the text message is requested.

9. The device of claim 8, wherein the controller erases the text message among the text messages and the changed text message according to a first method among the predetermined message erasing methods.

10. The device of claim 8, wherein the controller erases the text message according to a second method among the predetermined message erasing methods, generates a new message though applying the changed text message comprising only the input text to the text message, and displays the generated message.

11. A method of editing text in a portable terminal, the method comprising:

displaying content comprising at least one unit of text;

receiving an input of at least one unit of text through a first display area;

changing to an editing mode for editing the content, when the input text is released from the first display area while dragging the input text to replace a specific word included in the content located at a second display area; and

replacing the specific word with the input text when the input text is completely dragged to the specific word.

12. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

receiving, through the first display area, an input of the at least one unit of text comprising a specific word indicating an end of a sentence;

changing to the editing mode for editing the content, when the input text is released from the first display area while dragging the input text to replace the specific word included in the content; and

replacing the specific word included in the content with the input text when the input text is completely dragged to the specific word included in the content.

13. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

changing to the editing mode for editing the content, when a blank field of the first display area is released from the first display area while dragging the blank field to erase the specific word included in the content; and

erasing the specific word when the blank field is completely dragged to the specific word.

14. The method of claim 11, wherein the content comprises any one of an electronic document and a text message.

15. The method of claim 11, further comprising:

displaying the text message together with a changed text message comprising the input text, according to predetermined message displaying methods, when the content comprises the text message.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the displaying of the text message together with the changed text message comprising the input text comprises:

displaying the text message and the changed text message with different colors, according to a first method among the predetermined message displaying methods.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the displaying of the text message together with the changed text message comprising the input text comprises:

displaying the text message and the changed text message comprising only the input text, according to a second method among the predetermined message displaying methods.

18. The method of claim 15, further comprising:

erasing the text message according to predetermined message erasing methods, when erasing of the text message is requested.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the erasing of the text message comprises:

erasing the text message among the text messages and the changed text message according to a first method among the predetermined message erasing methods; and

maintaining the change text message in a current state.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the erasing of the text message comprises:

erasing the text message according to a second method among the predetermined message erasing methods;

generating a new message though applying the changed text message comprising only the input text to the text message; and

displaying the generated message.
