Abstract

A method, system and graphical user interface for a messaging system is disclosed. In accordance with some embodiments, the method includes receiving a first set of messages in a respective thread. Messages in the respective thread have been received from a plurality of users. The method also includes providing the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages; receiving a user input, associated with a message in the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages, requesting to forgo providing subsequent messages in the respective thread of messages; subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second set of messages in the respective thread; and, in accordance with the user input, forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

at a computer system having one or more processors and memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors;

receiving a first set of messages in a respective thread, wherein messages in the respective thread have been received from a plurality of users;

providing the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages;

receiving a user input, associated with a message in the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages, requesting to forgo providing subsequent messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the user input, forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

prior to receiving the first set of messages in the respective thread, receiving a user input requesting for messages in the respective thread.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

prior to receiving the user input requesting for messages in the respective thread, providing at least one of messages in the respective thread.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes forgoing providing any message, in the respective thread of messages, that is subsequent to the first set of messages.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes providing a plurality of messages that does not include any message in the respective thread of messages.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second user input requesting messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the second user input, receiving a third set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the second user input, providing the second and third sets of messages in the respective thread.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a fourth set of messages in the respective thread;

determining that at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies a focus specification associated with the computer system; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies the focus specification associated with the computer system, providing at least the fourth set of messages in the respective thread.

8. A computer system, comprising:

one or more processors; and

memory storing one or more programs for execution by the one or more processors, the one or more programs including instructions for;

receiving a first set of messages in a respective thread, wherein messages in the respective thread have been received from a plurality of users;

providing the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages;

receiving a user input, associated with a message in the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages, requesting to forgo providing subsequent messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the user input, forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages.

9. The computer system of claim 8, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

prior to receiving the first set of messages in the respective thread, receiving a user input requesting for messages in the respective thread.

10. The computer system of claim 9, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

prior to receiving the user input requesting for messages in the respective thread, providing at least one of messages in the respective thread.

11. The computer system of claim 8, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes forgoing providing any message, in the respective thread of messages, that is subsequent to the first set of messages.

12. The computer system of claim 8, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes providing a plurality of messages that does not include any message in the respective thread of messages.

13. The computer system of claim 8, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second user input requesting messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the second user input, receiving a third set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the second user input, providing the second and third sets of messages in the respective thread.

14. The computer system of claim 8, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a fourth set of messages in the respective thread;

determining that at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies a focus specification associated with the computer system; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies the focus specification associated with the computer system, providing at least the fourth set of messages in the respective thread.

15. A non-transitory computer readable storage medium storing one or more programs for execution by one or more processors of a computer system, the one or more programs including instructions for:

receiving a first set of messages in a respective thread, wherein messages in the respective thread have been received from a plurality of users;

providing the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages;

receiving a user input, associated with a message in the first set of messages in the respective thread of messages, requesting to forgo providing subsequent messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the user input, forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages.

16. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

prior to receiving the first set of messages in the respective thread, receiving a user input requesting for messages in the respective thread.

17. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes forgoing providing any message, in the respective thread of messages, that is subsequent to the first set of messages.

18. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein forgoing providing the second set of messages in the respective thread of messages includes providing a plurality of messages that does not include any message in the respective thread of messages.

19. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a second user input requesting messages in the respective thread of messages;

subsequent to receiving the second user input, receiving a third set of messages in the respective thread; and

,

in accordance with the second user input, providing the second and third sets of messages in the respective thread.

20. The computer readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the one or more programs include instructions for:

subsequent to receiving the user input, receiving a fourth set of messages in the respective thread;

determining that at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies a focus specification associated with the computer system; and

,

in accordance with a determination that the at least one message in the fourth set of messages satisfies the focus specification associated with the computer system, providing at least the fourth set of messages in the respective thread.
