Abstract

A method of transmitting broadcast signals includes forward error correction (FEC) encoding mobile data; interleaving the FEC encoded mobile data; encoding signaling information for the mobile data; mapping the interleaved mobile data and the encoded signaling information into a data unit, wherein the data unit includes a first region and a second region, wherein the first region is concatenated with the second region, wherein the first region includes known data and the encoded signaling information, and wherein the second region includes known data and the encoded mobile data; and transmitting the broadcast signals including the data unit, wherein the data unit is multiplexed with a data unit of main data in a specific time period, wherein the signaling information includes information of the data unit having the interleaved mobile data.

Claims

1. A method of transmitting broadcast signals, the method comprising:

forward error correction (FEC) encoding mobile data;

interleaving the FEC encoded mobile data;

encoding signaling information for the mobile data;

mapping the interleaved mobile data and the encoded signaling information into a data unit, wherein the data unit includes a first region and a second region, wherein the first region is concatenated with the second region, wherein the first region includes known data and the encoded signaling information, and wherein the second region includes known data and the encoded mobile data; and

transmitting the broadcast signals including the data unit, wherein the data unit is multiplexed with a data unit of main data in a specific time period, wherein the signaling information includes information of the data unit having the interleaved mobile data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the mobile data and the signaling information are encoded with different code rates.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the first region further includes FIC data for fast service acquisition.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the signaling information further includes version information indicating a version of the FIC data.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the known data in the second region are allocated with a specific pattern.

6. An apparatus for transmitting broadcast signals, the apparatus comprising:

a forward error correction (FEC) encoder configured to FEC encode mobile data;

an interleaver configured to interleave the FEC encoded mobile data;

a signaling encoder configured to encode signaling information for the mobile data;

a mapper configured to map the interleaved mobile data and the encoded signaling information into a data unit, wherein the data unit includes a first region and a second region, wherein the first region is concatenated with the second region, wherein the first region includes known data and the encoded signaling information, and wherein the second region includes known data and the encoded mobile data; and

a transmission unit configured to transmit the broadcast signals including the data unit, wherein the data unit is multiplexed with a data unit of main data in a specific time period, wherein the signaling information includes information of the data unit having the interleaved mobile data.

7. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the mobile data and the signaling information are encoded with different code rates.

8. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the first region further includes FIC data for fast service acquisition.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the signaling information further includes version information indicating a version of the FIC data.

10. The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the known data in the second region are allocated with a specific pattern.
