Abstract

Suggestions for content are based on either designation by or a habit of a user. Favored genres of content are determined at different times of day. Should content be requested at a particular time of day for which no favored genre of content is determined, then one of the known favored genres of content is suggested.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

storing, in memory, different content selections at times of days;

determining, by a processor, favored genres of content from the different content selections;

associating, in the memory, the favored genres of content to a corresponding one of the times of days;

receiving, by the processor, a request for content at a particular time of day;

determining, by the processor, that none of the favored genres of content is associated with the particular time of day;

selecting, by the processor, one of the favored genres of content; and

suggesting, by the processor, the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a current time matches the particular time of day.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising selecting a content offering associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising suggesting a title associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising suggesting a title of a program associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating an electronic programming guide that suggests the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.

7. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying the one of the favored genres of content.

8. An apparatus, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory storing code that when executed causes the processor to perform operations, the operations comprising;

monitoring different content selections at times of days;

determining favored genres of content from the different content selections;

associating the favored genres of content to a corresponding one of the times of days;

receiving a request for content at a particular time of day;

determining that none of the favored genres of content is associated with the particular time of day;

selecting one of the favored genres of content; and

suggesting the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.

9. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise determining a current time matches the particular time of day.

10. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise selecting a content offering associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise suggesting a title associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

12. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise suggesting a title of a program associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise generating an electronic programming guide that suggests the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.

14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the operations further comprise displaying the one of the favored genres of content.

15. A memory storing instructions that when executed cause a processor to perform operations, the operations comprising:

monitoring different content selections at times of days;

determining favored genres of content from the different content selections;

associating the favored genres of content to a corresponding one of the times of days;

receiving a request for content at a particular time of day;

determining that none of the favored genres of content is associated with the particular time of day;

selecting one of the favored genres of content; and

suggesting the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.

16. The memory of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise determining a current time matches the particular time of day.

17. The memory of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise selecting a content offering associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

18. The memory of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise suggesting a title associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

19. The memory of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise suggesting a title of a program associated with the one of the favored genres of content.

20. The memory of claim 15, wherein the operations further comprise generating an electronic programming guide that suggests the one of the favored genres of content at the particular time of day.
