Abstract
An ultrasound catheter with a lumen for fluid delivery and fluid evacuation, and an ultrasound source is used for the treatment of intracerebral or intraventricular hemorrhages. After the catheter is inserted into a blood clot, a lytic drug can be delivered to the blood clot via the lumen while applying ultrasonic energy to the treatment site. As the blood clot is dissolved, the liquefied blood clot can be removed by evacuation through the lumen.

10. A method of delivering compounds to a target region, comprising the steps of:

advancing an ultrasound catheter to the target region, the ultrasound catheter comprising two or more ultrasound radiating elements and a first hole, wherein the two or more ultrasound radiating elements are spaced apart longitudinally along the ultrasound catheter; introducing a first therapeutic compound to the target location via the first hole; and sequentially activating the two or more ultrasound radiating elements such that the first therapeutic compound is directed to a first target area. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
