Abstract

A mobile terminal and a method for using the same. The mobile terminal includes a display configured to display first screen information corresponding to at least a portion of a first page having a predetermined length, a sensor configured to detect a touch received on the display, and a controller configured to control the display to cease displaying at least a portion of the first screen information when the received touch corresponds to a predetermined scheme for displaying another portion of the first screen information, display the another portion of the first screen information in response to the received touch, and display at least a portion of second screen information corresponding to a region beyond an edge of the first page in response to the received touch when the displayed at least a portion of the first screen information corresponds to an edge region of the first page.

Claims

1. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a display configured to display first screen information, the first screen information corresponding to at least a portion of a first page that has a predetermined length;

a sensor configured to detect a touch received on the display; and

a controller configured to control the display to;

cease displaying at least a portion of the first screen information when the received touch corresponds to a predetermined scheme for displaying another portion of the first screen information, the another portion of the first screen information corresponding to at least another portion of the first page;

display the another portion of the first screen information in response to the received touch; and

display at least a portion of second screen information corresponding to a region beyond an edge of the first page in response to the received touch when the displayed at least a portion of the first screen information corresponds to an edge region of the first page.

2. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the second screen information corresponds to at least one other page different from the first page, the at least one other page associated with the first page.

3. The mobile terminal of claim 2, wherein:

the at least a portion of the second screen information is displayed as a list containing at least one item, each of the at least one item corresponding to a page of the at least one other page; and

the at least one item is displayed consecutively from the edge of the first page in a region extending away from the first page.

4. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein:

the at least one item comprises a plurality of items;

the received touch includes at least a drag or a flick; and

the controller is further configured to control the display to;

vary a number of items of the at least one item displayed in the list based on a length of the drag or a speed of the flick; and

gradually move the at least one item based on a further touch received after the drag or flick.

5. The mobile terminal of claim 4, wherein:

the at least one other page comprises a second page and a third page; and

the controller is further configured to control the display to consecutively display an item of the at least one item corresponding to the second page and an item of the at least one item corresponding to the third page based on the further touch.

The mobile terminal of claim 4, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to display the at least a portion of the first screen information proximate a bottom of the displayed list, the at least a portion of the first screen information corresponding to a top of the first page.

The mobile terminal of claim 6, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to display the another portion of the first screen information proximate a top of the displayed list, the another portion of the first screen information corresponding to a bottom of the first page.

8. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to vary a size of the at least one item based on a location of the displayed at least one item.

9. The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to enlarge an item of the at least one item that is closest to the edge of the first page such that the enlarged item is displayed larger than other items of the at least one item.

The mobile terminal of claim 8, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to enlarge an item of the at least one item that is located at a predetermined reference line of the display such that the enlarged item is displayed larger than other items of the at least one item.

11. The mobile terminal of claim 3, wherein the controller is further configured to:

control the display to change a display size of an item of the at least one item based on a pinch-in or pinch-out gesture received on the item; and

adjust a size of a region in which the first screen information is displayed, the size adjusted based on the changing of the size of the item.

12. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to:

cease displaying of the another portion of the first screen information in response to a release of the touch; and

redisplay the at least a portion of the first screen information in response to the release of the touch.

13. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein:

the touch includes a drag; and

the controller is further configured to control the display to;

vary a displayed location of the at least a portion of the second screen information based on a length of the drag; and

continue displaying the at least a portion of the second screen information when the touch is released and the second screen information is positioned on a virtual reference line of the display.

14. The mobile terminal of claim 13, further comprising:

a speaker configured for outputting sound signals; and

a haptic module configured for outputting vibration signals,

wherein, the controller is further configured to control at least the speaker to output a sound signal or the haptic module to output a vibration when the at least a portion of the second screen information is positioned on the virtual reference line.

15. The mobile terminal of claim 12, wherein:

the touch includes a drag; and

the controller is further configured to control the display to;

vary a displayed location of the at least a portion of the second screen information based on a length of the drag; and

cease displaying the at least a portion of the first screen information and display at least a portion of a page corresponding to the second screen information when the second screen information is positioned on a virtual reference line of the display based on the received touch.

The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to replace at least part of the at least a portion of the second screen information with event information, the event information related to an event received when the second screen information is displayed.

17. The mobile terminal of claim 1, wherein:

the first page is a webpage; and

the second screen information is at least another webpage that has been displayed on the display prior to the displaying of the webpage.

18. A mobile terminal, comprising:

a display configured to display first screen information, the first screen information corresponding to at least a portion of a first page that has a predetermined length and is configured for performing a function;

a sensor configured to detect a touch received on the display; and

a controller configured to control the display to;

cease displaying at least a portion of the displayed first screen information when the received touch corresponds to a predetermined scheme for displaying another portion of the first screen information, the another portion of the first screen information corresponding to at least another portion of the first page;

display the another portion of the first screen information in response to the received touch; and

display at least a portion of second screen information corresponding to a region beyond an edge of the first page in response to the received touch when the displayed at least a portion of the first screen information corresponds to an edge region of the first page, the second screen information corresponding to a second page, the second page configured for performing a function similar to the function performed by the first page.

19. A control method of a mobile terminal, the method comprising:

displaying first screen information on a display of the mobile terminal, the first screen information corresponding to at least a portion of a first page, the first page having a predetermined length;

detecting a touch received on the display via a sensor of the mobile terminal;

ceasing displaying of at least a portion of the first screen information when the received touch corresponds to a predetermined scheme for displaying another portion of the first screen information, the another portion of the first screen information corresponding to at least another portion of the first page;

displaying the another portion of the first screen information in response to the received touch; and

displaying at least a portion of second screen information corresponding to a region beyond an edge of the first page in response to the received touch when the at least a portion of the first screen information corresponds to an edge region of the first page.
