Abstract

A user interface for displaying and playing multimedia contents is capable of allowing the user to easily recognize information about multimedia contents at a glance, and allowing the user to more easily retrieve desired information, through an image pre-play function. An apparatus includes the user interface, and a control method for the apparatus are includes displaying a sorting item of a multimedia content, and arranging file information included in the sorting item and having the form of a playable image.

Claims

1. An electronic apparatus comprising:

a display;

a storage unit to store a plurality of video data; and

a controller to control the display to;

display a list of video items for the plural video data, each of the vide items comprising a still image having a first size, and title information for a corresponding one of the plural video data, and

pre-play, in response to a selection of at least one of the video items, the video data corresponding to the selected video item in a form of a thumbnail having a second size greater than the first size, the video item list being continuously displayed during the pre-play,

wherein a starting point of the pre-play is determined based on information about a previous play position of the video data.

2. The electronic apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the storage unit comprises information about the previous play position of the video data.

3. The electronic apparatus according to claim 1, wherein each of the video items further comprises information representing a previous play position of the corresponding video data.

4. The electronic apparatus according to claim 3, wherein, when a selected one of the video items is touched or dragged, the controller moves a position of the selected video item, based on the dragging.

5. The electronic apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the information about the previous play position is based on a position at which pre-play of the corresponding video data was stopped.

6. The electronic apparatus according to claim 3, wherein the controller determines whether each of the plural video data is pre-playable, and displays a button user interface item on a video item corresponding to video data determined to be pre-playable.

7. The electronic apparatus according to claim 6, wherein the controller determines whether each of the plural video data is pre-playable, and displays a button user interface item on a video item corresponding to video data determined to be pre-playable.

8. The electronic apparatus according to claim 1, wherein the thumbnail of the second size corresponding to the selected video item is displayed on the still image of at least one of the non-selected video items.

9. The electronic apparatus according to claim 7, wherein the thumbnail of the second size corresponding to the selected video item is displayed on the still image of at least one of the non-selected video items.
