Abstract

A method of detecting missing devices in a home entertainment system using a wireless home entertainment hub includes obtaining a registration of at least one device that includes a source device. An instruction is received from a user to present program content from the source device. A set of one or more sink devices missing from the home entertainment system for a presentation of the program content based on an assessment by the wireless home entertainment hub of presentation capabilities of the home entertainment system using the at least one device registered with the wireless home entertainment hub is determined. The set of one or more sink devices is presented to the user.

26. A method of adjusting a device in a home entertainment system, the method comprising:

identifying, via an identification device associated with a home entertainment system, a user at an initiation of an entertainment session;

retrieving a user profile corresponding to the user, the user profile including positioning information of at least a primary display device and a secondary display device, the secondary display device for display of content supplemental to main content displayed on the primary display device; and

causing adjustment of a position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the user profile.

27. The method as in claim 26, wherein retrieving the user profile comprises:

retrieving a user profile describing a configuration of the home entertainment system from a previous entertainment session associated with the user.

28. The method as in claim 27, wherein causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the user profile comprises:

causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the configuration of the home entertainment system from the previous entertainment session associated with the user.

29. The method as in claim 26, further comprising:

in response to identifying the user, denying the user access to the primary display device of the home entertainment system based on a set of rules customized by an authorized user.

30. The method as in claim 29, wherein denying the user access to the primary display device of the home entertainment system comprises:

denying the user access to the primary display device due to a time of day.

31. The method as in claim 29, wherein denying the user access to the primary display device of the home entertainment system comprises:

denying the user access to a programming channel via the primary display device due to a program rating system.

32. The method as in claim 27, wherein retrieving the user profile describing the configuration of the home entertainment system from the previous entertainment session associated with the user comprises:

retrieving in the user profile a respective physical orientation of the primary and secondary display devices during the previous entertainment session.

33. The method as in claim 32, wherein causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the user profile comprises:

causing the primary and secondary display devices to be adjusted to the physical orientation of the primary and secondary display devices during the previous entertainment session.

34. A method of adjusting a device in a home entertainment system, the method comprising:

receiving an instruction from the wireless home entertainment hub to adjust a position of a secondary display device in a home entertainment system, the secondary display device for display of content supplemental to main content displayed on a primary display device, wherein the instruction is based on a user profile of a user identified via an identification device associated with the home entertainment system, the user profile specifying positioning information of the primary and secondary display devices; and

adjusting the position of the secondary display device in response to the instruction received from the wireless home entertainment hub.

35. The method as in claim 34, wherein the user profile describes a configuration of the home entertainment system from a previous entertainment session associated with the user.

36. The method as in claim 35, wherein adjusting the position of the secondary display device in response to the instruction received from the wireless home entertainment hub comprises:

adjusting the position of the secondary display device based on the configuration of the home entertainment system from the previous entertainment session associated with the user.

37. The method as in claim 34, further comprising:

receiving an instruction from the wireless home entertainment hub to deny the identified user access to the secondary display device of the home entertainment system based on a set of rules customized by an authorized user.

38. The method as in claim 37, further comprising:

denying the identified user access to the secondary display device due to a time of day.

39. The method as in claim 37, further comprising:

denying the identified user access to a programming channel via the secondary display device due to a program rating system.

40. The method as in claim 35, wherein the user profile describes a physical orientation of the secondary display device during the previous entertainment session.

41. The method as in claim 40, wherein adjusting the position of the secondary display device in response to the instruction received from the wireless home entertainment hub profile comprises:

adjusting the secondary display device to return to the physical orientation of the secondary display device during the previous entertainment session.

42. A computer readable storage device storing computer instructions, which, in response to being executed on a processor, cause a computing device to perform operations comprising:

identifying, via an identification device associated with a home entertainment system, a user at an initiation of an entertainment session;

retrieving a user profile corresponding to the user, the user profile including positioning information of at least a primary display device and a secondary display device, the secondary display device for display of content supplemental to main content displayed on the primary display device; and

causing adjustment of a position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the user profile.

43. The computer readable storage device of claim 42, wherein retrieving the user profile comprises:

retrieving a user profile describing a configuration of the home entertainment system from a previous entertainment session associated with the user.

44. The computer readable storage device of claim 43, wherein causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the user profile comprises:

causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices based on the configuration of the home entertainment system from the previous entertainment session associated with the user.

The computer readable storage device of claim 43, wherein the user profile describes a physical orientation of the primary and secondary display devices during the previous entertainment session, and further wherein causing adjustment of the position of the primary and secondary display devices comprises:

adjusting the primary and secondary display devices to the physical orientation of the primary and secondary display devices during the previous entertainment session.
