Abstract

Methods and systems for a vehicle system that include accessing the bandwidth of a wireless communication system whose bandwidth may be available for use by a vehicle. The vehicle receives permission from the wireless communication system that has access to bandwidth to utilize the bandwidth.

Claims

1. A vehicle system comprising:

a first vehicle; and

a bandwidth utilization system coupled to said first vehicle, wherein said bandwidth utilization system receives permission from a wireless communication system having access to bandwidth, based on said permission said bandwidth utilization system utilizes said bandwidth to access a communication network.

2. The vehicle system of claim 1 wherein said wireless communication system is a vehicle-based communication system.

3. The vehicle system of claim 1 wherein said wireless communication system is a wireless telephone, tablet, or computer.

4. The vehicle system of claim 1 wherein said bandwidth is from a cellular system or WiFi system.

5. The vehicle system of claim 2 wherein said vehicle-based communication device is coupled to a second vehicle.

6. The vehicle system of claim 1 wherein said permission is granted based on characteristics of said first vehicle.

7. The vehicle system of claim 2 wherein said permission is granted automatically based on a relationship between said first vehicle and a second vehicle.

8. The vehicle system of claim 5 wherein said permission is based on a relationship between said first vehicle and said second vehicle.

9. The vehicle system of claim 8 wherein said relationship includes said first vehicle and said second vehicle being manufactured by a common manufacturer.

10. The vehicle system of claim 8 wherein said relationship includes said first vehicle and said second vehicle being priced in a similar price range.

11. A vehicle system comprising:

a vehicle; and

a bandwidth utilization system coupled to said vehicle, wherein said bandwidth utilization system detects whether there is a wireless communication system available having access to bandwidth, based on said detection said bandwidth utilization system utilizes said wireless communication system to access said bandwidth.

12. The vehicle system of claim 11 wherein said wireless communication system is a vehicle-based communication system.

13. The vehicle system of claim 11 wherein said wireless communication system is a wireless telephone, tablet, or computer.

14. The vehicle system of claim 11 wherein said bandwidth is from a cellular system or WiFi system.

15. The vehicle system of claim 11 wherein said wireless communication system is a vehicle-based communication system coupled to a second vehicle.

16. A method of accessing bandwidth comprising:

detecting, by way of a bandwidth utilization system coupled to a vehicle, whether there is a wireless communication system available that has access to bandwidth for use by said bandwidth utilization system;

receiving, by way of said bandwidth utilization system, permission to use said bandwidth from said wireless communication system; and

utilizing said bandwidth based on said permission.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein said wireless communication system is a vehicle-based communication system.

18. The method of claim 16 wherein said wireless communication system is a wireless telephone, tablet, or computer.

19. The method of claim 16 wherein said bandwidth is from a cellular system or WiFi system.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein said vehicle-based control system is coupled to a second vehicle.
