Abstract

A method of reducing the number of microorganisms entering the nose and proliferating in the nasal cavity including application of a solution of an antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition to the anterior vestibular region of the nares. The antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal solution includes ethyl alcohol as an active ingredient. Various embodiments may also include one or more of the following additional ingredients: orange oil, coconut oil; soy oil; emu oil; grapefruit seed extract; glycine soja; simmondsia chinensis (Jojoba); lauric acid; aloe vera; and a preservative, such as benzalkonium chloride and vitamin E.

Claims

1. A method of reducing the number of microorganisms entering the nose and proliferating in the nasal cavity, said method comprising the steps of:

applying a solution of an antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition to the anterior vestibular region of the nares wherein said antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition comprises;

ethyl alcohol in an amount of between 50.0% and 75.0% by weight of the composition;

a first inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition;

a second inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition; and

a third inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition.

2. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is orange oil.

3. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is jojoba oil.

4. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is vitamin E.

5. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third active ingredients is coconut oil.

6. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is lauric acid.

7. The method as recited in claim 1 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is benzalkonium chloride.

8. A method of reducing the number of microorganisms entering the nose and proliferating in the nasal cavity, said method comprising the steps of:

saturating the cotton tip of a cotton swab with a solution of an antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition;

placing the saturated cotton tip of the cotton swab against the anterior vestibular region of the nose;

moving the saturated cotton tip in a circular motion while maintaining gentle contact with the anterior vestibular region and applying the antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition to the anterior vestibular region of the nose; and

wherein the antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal composition comprises;

ethyl alcohol in an amount of between 50.0% and 75.0% by weight of the composition;

a first inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition;

a second inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition; and

a third inactive ingredient in an amount of between 0.05% and 49.90% by weight of the composition.

9. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is orange oil.

10. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is jojoba oil.

11. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is vitamin E.

12. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third active ingredients is coconut oil.

13. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is lauric acid.

14. The method as recited in claim 8 wherein at least one of said first, second and third inactive ingredients is benzalkonium chloride.
