Abstract

Methods and systems for an improved navigation environment are provided. The navigation system can route users to preferred locations based on user profile data and past experience with the present driver and other drivers. The system provides more cost-effective and time-sensitive routing by incorporating other information about destinations. Further, the navigation system provides enhanced guidance in foreign or unfamiliar locations by incorporating experience from other drivers and other data.

Claims

1. A method for providing navigation information for a conveyance, comprising:

a vehicle control system, including a processor, receiving a list of goods to purchase;

the vehicle control system determining a cost of the goods;

the vehicle control system determining two or more best locations where the cost of the goods is the least;

the vehicle control system determining a cost of travel to each of the two or more best locations; and

the vehicle control system determining a total cost of obtaining the goods based on the cost of goods at and the travel cost to the two or more best locations.

2. The method of claim 121, further comprising determining a best route based on the total cost.

3. The method of claim 122, wherein the cost of the goods is determined from information on the Internet.

4. The method of claim 123, wherein a cost for at least one product in the list of goods is associated with each of the two or more best locations.

5. The method of claim 124, wherein the cost of travel is based on a distance to the best location.

6. The method of claim 125, wherein the best route does not include a best location where the cost of travel is more than a savings on the cost of the product.

7. The method of claim 126, wherein the best route includes two or more destinations.

8. The method of claim 127, wherein the list of goods is generated from user profile data associated with a user.

9. The method of claim 128, wherein the list of goods includes two or more frequently purchased products.

10. The method of claim 129, wherein the cost of travel is also based on a cost of gas or a time.

11. A conveyance comprising:

a processor operable to execute one or more modules, the modules comprising;

a cost module operable to;

receive a list of goods to purchase;

determine a cost of the goods;

determine two or more best locations where the cost of the goods is the least;

determine a cost of travel to each of the two or more best locations; and

determine a total cost of obtaining the goods based on the cost of goods at and the travel cost to the two or more best locations.

12. The conveyance of claim 131, further comprising a route suggestion module operable to determine a best route based on the total cost.

13. The conveyance of claim 132, wherein the cost of the goods is determined from information on the Internet, and wherein a cost for at least one product in the list of goods is associated with each of the two or more best locations.

14. The conveyance of claim 133, wherein the cost of travel is based on one or more of a distance to the best location, a cost of gas, and a time.

15. The conveyance of claim 132, wherein the best route does not include a best location where the cost of travel is more than a savings on the cost of the product.

16. A non-transitory computer readable medium stored on a storage medium and having instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to perform a method, the instructions comprising:

instructions to receive a list of goods to purchase;

instructions to determine a cost of the goods;

instructions to determine two or more best locations where the cost of the goods is the least;

instructions to determine a cost of travel to each of the two or more best locations; and

instructions to determine a total cost of obtaining the goods based on the cost of goods at and the travel cost to the two or more best locations.

17. The computer readable medium of claim 136, further comprising instructions to determine a best route based on the total cost.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 137, wherein the cost of the goods is determined from information on the Internet, and wherein a cost for at least one product in the list of goods is associated with each of the two or more best locations.

19. The computer readable medium of claim 138, wherein the cost of travel is based on one or more of a distance to the best location, a cost of gas, and a time.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 137, wherein the best route does not include a best location where the cost of travel is more than a savings on the cost of the product.
