Abstract

Methods and systems for an improved navigation environment are provided. The navigation system can route users to preferred locations based on user profile data and past experience with the present driver and other drivers. The system provides more cost-effective and time-sensitive routing by incorporating other information about destinations. Further, the navigation system provides enhanced guidance in foreign or unfamiliar locations by incorporating experience from other drivers and other data.

Claims

1. A method for providing navigation information for a conveyance, comprising:

a vehicle control system, including a processor, determining an origin location;

the vehicle control system determining two or more destination locations;

the vehicle control system determining a timeframe for the route; and

the vehicle control system generating a best route to the two or more destinations in the timeframe.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the timeframe is an amount of time available to a user to travel the route.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the best route includes a return to the origin location.

4. The method of claim 3, wherein the user provide the amount of time available.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the vehicle control system accesses preference data in a user profile to determine preferred routes.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the best route is a preferred route.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the user profile includes a first location that should be avoided.

8. The method of claim 7, wherein the best route avoids the first location.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the first location is an area between the origin location and at least one destination.

10. The method of claim 9, wherein the first location is indicated by an address in the user profile.

11. A conveyance comprising:

a processor operable to execute one or more modules, the modules comprising;

a route suggestion module;

determine an origin location;

determine two or more destination locations;

determine a timeframe for the route; and

generate a best route to the two or more destinations in the timeframe.

12. The conveyance of claim 11, wherein the timeframe is an amount of time available to a user to travel the route, wherein the best route includes a return to the origin location, and wherein the user provide the amount of time available.

13. The conveyance of claim 12, wherein the route suggestion module accesses preference data in a user profile to determine preferred routes, wherein the best route is a preferred route.

14. The conveyance of claim 13, wherein the user profile includes a first location that should be avoided, and wherein the best route avoids the first location.

15. The conveyance of claim 14, wherein the first location is an area between the origin location and at least one destination, and wherein the first location is indicated by an address in the user profile.

16. A non-transitory computer readable medium stored on a storage medium and having instructions that when executed by a processor cause the processor to perform a method, the instructions comprising:

instructions to determine an origin location;

instructions to determine two or more destination locations;

instructions to determine a timeframe for the route; and

instructions to generate a best route to the two or more destinations in the timeframe.

17. The computer readable medium of claim 16, wherein the timeframe is an amount of time available to a user to travel the route, wherein the best route includes a return to the origin location, and wherein the user provide the amount of time available.

18. The computer readable medium of claim 17, wherein the route suggestion module accesses preference data in a user profile to determine preferred routes, wherein the best route is a preferred route.

19. The computer readable medium of claim 18, wherein the user profile includes a first location that should be avoided, and wherein the best route avoids the first location.

20. The computer readable medium of claim 19, wherein the first location is an area between the origin location and at least one destination, and wherein the first location is indicated by an address in the user profile.
