Abstract

An IV bag/line safety device including a tag set and a bag attacher removably connected to the tag set. The tag set includes a plurality of tags printed with the name of an IV solution. The bag attacher is configured to attach the safety device to an IV bag containing the IV solution printed on the tags. After attachment, the safety device provides visual cues to a user inviting the user to disconnect the tags from the safety device. After disconnecting one or more of the tags, the user may attach those tags to an IV tubing line connected to the IV bag through which the IV solution contained in the IV bag flows from the IV bag into a patient. This enables the user to quickly identify a given IV tubing line having at least one tag attached thereto as containing a particular IV solution.

Claims

1. An intravenous bag/line safety device comprising:

a bag attacher for attaching the safety device to an IV bag including;

(a) a bag attacher adhesive disposed on one surface of the bag attacher, and

(b) a tag set removably connected to the bag attacher, the tag set including a plurality of intravenous tubing line safety tags

each having

an intravenous solution name displayer displaying the name of a pharmaceutical or solution and

ii an intravenous tubing line attacher.

2. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1, wherein the tag set is removably connected to the bag attacher via a perforated edge between the bag attacher and the tag set.

3. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1, wherein the intravenous solution name displayer includes two opposite surfaces and displays the name of the pharmaceutical on each of the two surfaces.

4. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1, wherein the intravenous tubing line attacher is substantially transparent.

6. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1, wherein each of the intravenous tubing line safety tags is removably connected to at least one other one of the intravenous tubing line safety tags via one or more perforated edges.

20. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1 in which the intravenous solution name displayer also displays a barcode representing the name of the pharmaceutical or solution.

21. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1 in which at least one safety tag includes an RFID.

22. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 1 in which the safety tags are rigid.

11. An apparatus comprising:

an intravenous bag containing an intravenous solution including a pharmaceutical or solution; and

an intravenous bag/line safety device attached to the intravenous bag, the intravenous bag/line safety device including;

(a) a bag attacher attached to the intravenous bag; and

(b) a tag set removably connected to the bag attacher and not attached to the intravenous bag, the tag set including a plurality of intravenous tubing line safety tags, wherein each of the intravenous tubing line safety tags is;

(i) removably connected to the tag set,

(ii) attachable to an intravenous tubing line, and

(iii) configured to identify the pharmaceutical or the solution.

23. An intravenous bag/line safety device comprising:

a bag attacher for attaching a safety device to an IV bag; and

a tag set connected to the bag attacher including connected to the tag set, a plurality of intravenous tubing line safety tags removably attachable to intravenous tubing lines, and configured to identify a pharmaceutical or solution.

24. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23 including

adhesive disposed on one surface of the bag attacher.

25. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23, wherein the tag set Is removably connected to the bag attacher via a perforated edge between the bag attacher and the tag set.

26. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23, wherein the tubing line safety tags include two opposite surfaces and display the name of the pharmaceutical or solution on each of the two surfaces.

27. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23, wherein each of the intravenous tubing line safety tags is removably connected to at least one other one of the safety tags via one or more perforated edges.

28. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23 in which at least one tubing line safety tag includes an RFID.

29. The intravenous bag/line safety device of claim 23 in which the tubing line safety tags are rigid.
