Abstract

A sensor data system, method and computer program configured to handle sensor data are disclosed. The system includes a reception unit adapted to receive sensor data, a storing unit adapted to store at least some of the received sensor data in an observations database, a recording unit adapted to record usage of the sensor data, and a relevance determination unit adapted to determine the relevance of the sensor data based on the recorded usage. A decision unit is adapted to remove excess sensor data with determined relevance below a limit from the observations database, and to retain relevant sensor data with determined relevance above the limit in the sensor database. Sensor data in an observations database may thereby be limited to a desired size, by removal of excess sensor data from the database.

Claims

1. A sensor data system configured to handle sensor data, the system comprising:

a reception unit adapted to receive sensor data,

a storing unit adapted to store at least some of the received sensor data in an observations database,

a recording unit adapted to record usage of the sensor data stored in the observation database,

a relevance determination unit adapted to determine the relevance of the sensor data in the observation database based on the recorded usage, and

a decision unit adapted to remove excess sensor data with determined relevance below a limit from the observations database, and to retain relevant sensor data with determined relevance above the limit in the observations database.

2. The system according to claim 1, wherein the relevance calculation unit comprises a uniqueness calculation unit for calculation of the uniqueness of the sensor data.

3. The system according to claim 1, wherein the relevance calculation unit comprises a usage calculation unit for calculation of the usage of the sensor data.

4. The system according to claim 1, wherein the relevance calculation unit comprises an influence calculation unit for calculation of the influence of the sensor data.

5. The system according to claim 2, wherein the relevance calculation unit is adapted to determine the age of the sensor data by a an age determination unit.

6. The system according to claim 1, wherein the relevance calculation unit is further adapted to determine the relevance of the sensor data based on parameters comprising a combination of at least two of:

uniqueness, usage, influence, and age of the sensor data.

7. The system according to claim 1, wherein the retained sensor data is used for reporting observations, or sensor data is made available to a data user.

8. The system according to claim 1, wherein the relevance calculation unit is further adapted to perform determination periodically, or when an observations database exceeds a certain size.

9. The system according to claim 6, wherein the parameters for determination are static set, or dynamically adapted by the system.

10. A method in a sensor data system for handling sensor data, the method comprising:

receiving sensor data,

storing at least some of the sensor data in an observations database,

recording the usage of the received sensor data,

determining the relevance of the received sensor data based on the recorded usage, and

deciding of removal of excess sensor data with determined relevance below a limit, and retention of sensor data with relevance above the limit in an observations database.

11. The method according to claim 10, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the uniqueness.

12. The method according to claim 10, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the usage.

13. The method according to claim 10, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the influence.

14. The method according to claim 10, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is determined by determination of the age.

15. The method according to claim 10, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is determined by a combination of at least two of:

uniqueness, usage, influence, and age of the sensor data.

16. The method according to claim 10, wherein the retained sensor data is used for reporting observations, or sensor data is made available to a data user.

17. The method according to claim 10, wherein relevance determination is performed periodically, or when an observations database exceeds a certain size.

18. The method according to claim 10, wherein the parameters for determination are static set, or dynamically adapted.

19. A computer program, comprising computer readable code means, which when run by a sensor data system causes the sensor data system to perform the following steps:

receiving sensor data,

storing at least some of the sensor data in an observations database,

recording the usage of the received sensor data,

determining the relevance of the received sensor data based on the recorded usage, and

deciding of removal of excess sensor data with determined relevance below a limit, and retention of sensor data with relevance above the limit in an observations database.

20. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the uniqueness.

21. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the usage.

22. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is calculated by calculation of the influence.

23. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is determined by determination of the age.

24. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the relevance of the sensor data is determined by a combination of at least two of:

uniqueness, usage, influence, and age of the sensor data.

25. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the retained sensor data is used for reporting observations, or sensor data is made available to a data user.

26. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein relevance determination is performed periodically, or when an observations database exceeds a certain size.

27. The computer program according to claim 19, wherein the parameters for determination are static set, or dynamically adapted.

28. A computer program product, comprising a computer readable medium and a computer program according to claim 19, wherein the computer program is stored on the computer readable medium.
