1. A method for injecting an agent to a tissue site, comprising:

  • measuring an amount of elastic tenting of skin of the body part when a penetrating member depresses the skin in a direction inward below a surface of the skin to determine elasticity of the skin;

    storing in a processor the amount of elastic tenting of the skin;

    selecting a driver profile from a set of alternative driver profiles stored in the processor that includes elastic tenting of the skin and a depth setting using stored tenting information in the processor, which is dependent on a value of the measured amount of elastic tenting and influences the injection of the agent;

    settling at the depth setting for a certain period of dwell time before starting to withdraw from the withdrawal site;

    injecting an agent;

    wherein the dwell time is related to the amount of elastic tenting of the skin depressed by the penetrating member trying to puncture the surface of the skin and variance in skin deformation.
