Abstract

There is provided an information processing apparatus including a display portion, an illuminance sensor and a controller. The display portion has a display screen. The illuminance sensor measures an ambient brightness of the display screen at a first interval. The controller shifts the illuminance sensor to a state in which the illuminance sensor measures the ambient brightness at a second interval which is longer than the first interval when a change of the brightness is relatively small.

Claims

1. An information processing apparatus comprising:

a display portion which has a display screen;

an illuminance sensor which measures an ambient brightness of the display screen at a first interval; and

a controller which shifts the illuminance sensor to a state in which the illuminance sensor measures the ambient brightness at a second interval which is longer than the first interval when a change of the brightness is relatively small.

2. The information processing apparatus of claim 1,

wherein the illuminance sensor is shifted to a power saving mode when the ambient brightness is not lower than a predetermined threshold.

3. The information processing apparatus of claim 2,

wherein a screen illuminance of the display screen is changed based on the ambient brightness, and

wherein the predetermined threshold corresponds to a value of the ambient brightness at which the screen illuminance reaches an upper limit thereof

4. An information processing method, comprising:

preparing an information processing apparatus including a display portion which has a display screen and an illuminance sensor which measures an ambient brightness of the display screen;

measuring the ambient brightness of the display screen at a first interval by the illuminance sensor; and

shifting the illuminance sensor to a state in which the illuminance sensor measures the ambient brightness at a second interval which is longer than the first interval when a change of the brightness is relatively small.

5. The information processing method of claim 4,

wherein the illuminance sensor is shifted to a power saving mode when the ambient brightness is not lower than a predetermined threshold.

6. The information processing method of claim 5,

wherein a screen illuminance of the display screen is changed based on the ambient brightness, and

wherein the predetermined threshold corresponds to a value of the ambient brightness at which the screen illuminance reaches an upper limit thereof
