Abstract

Embodiments of the systems, devices and methods described herein generally facilitate performing Bluetooth pairing between a first device and a second device. In accordance with one example embodiment, a first device generates a barcode that encodes Bluetooth pairing data for transmission to the second device, wherein the pairing data comprises a Bluetooth address associated with the first device, and wherein the pairing data further comprises a personal identification number usable to complete the Bluetooth pairing, the barcode is transmitted to the second device, and Bluetooth pairing is performed with the second device.

Claims

1. A method of performing Bluetooth pairing on a device, the method performed by a processor of the device, the method comprising:

generating a barcode that encodes pairing data and pairing initiation data usable to automatically initiate a Bluetooth pairing at a second device, the pairing data comprising a Bluetooth address and a personal identification number both associated with the device and usable to complete the Bluetooth pairing;

transmitting the barcode; and

performing the Bluetooth pairing after receiving an automatic response from the second device.

2. The method of claim 1, where the transmitting the barcode comprises displaying the barcode on a display associated with the device.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising:

terminating said transmitting upon receiving the response by terminating display of the barcode on the display.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprises:

receiving a message that confirms receipt of the barcode; and

terminating said transmitting in response to the message.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating the personal identification number.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a photo frame.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a mobile device.

8. A device comprising a memory, a Bluetooth transceiver, and further comprising a processor, wherein the processor is configured to:

generate a barcode that encodes pairing data and pairing initiation data usable to automatically initiate a Bluetooth pairing at a second device, the pairing data comprising a Bluetooth address and a personal identification number both associated with the device and usable to complete the Bluetooth pairing;

transmit the barcode; and

perform the Bluetooth pairing after receiving an automatic response from the second device.

9. The device of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to display the barcode on a display associated with the device when transmitting the barcode.

10. The device of claim 9, wherein the processor is further configured to terminate transmission of the barcode upon receiving the response by terminating display of the barcode on the display.

11. The device of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to:

receive a message that confirms receipt of the barcode; and

terminate transmission of the barcode in response to the message.

12. The device of claim 8, wherein the processor is further configured to generate the personal identification number.

13. The device of claim 8, wherein the device comprises a photo frame.

14. The device of claim 8, wherein the device comprises a mobile device.

15. A computer-readable storage medium upon which a plurality of computer-readable instructions for execution by a processor of a device is stored, wherein execution of the instructions causes the processor to:

generate a barcode that encodes pairing data and pairing initiation data usable to automatically initiate a Bluetooth pairing at a second device, the pairing data comprising a Bluetooth address and a personal identification number both associated with the device and usable to complete the Bluetooth pairing;

transmit the barcode; and

perform the Bluetooth pairing after receiving an automatic response from the second device.

16. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein execution of the instructions further causes the processor to display the barcode on a display associated with the device when transmitting the barcode.

17. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 16, wherein execution of the instructions further causes the processor to terminate transmission of the barcode upon receiving the response by terminating display of the barcode on the display.

18. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, execution of the instructions further causes the processor to:

receive a message that confirms receipt of the barcode; and

terminate transmission of the barcode in response to the message.

19. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, execution of the instructions further causes the processor to generate the personal identification number.

20. The computer-readable storage medium of claim 15, wherein the device comprises a mobile device.
