Abstract

Embodiments are provided for forming share bars including collections of content items. In some embodiments, a user interface may be displayed on a display interface of a user device. The user interface may include a first region including a collection of content items and a second region. A first gesture may be detected with the display interface that selects a first content item from the displayed collection of content items. In response to detecting the first gesture, a first thumbnail of the first content item may be created and placed in the second region. A share option may be provided within the second region that may enable a user of the user device to share any content items that may have a corresponding thumbnail in the second region.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

displaying, on a display interface of a user device, a user interface comprising a first region comprising a first content item from a collection of content items and a second region;

detecting a first touch gesture with the display interface and with respect to the first content item from the collection of content items;

if a direction of the first touch gesture is towards the second region, placing, in response to the first touch gesture, a first content item thumbnail of the first content item in the second region;

if the direction of the first touch gesture is away from the second region, removing, in response to the first touch gesture, the first content item from the display interface; and

providing a share option within the second region enabling a user of the user device to share any content items having corresponding content item thumbnails in the second region.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

creating the first content item thumbnail in response to the first touch gesture.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the collection of content items comprises a collection of one or more of photographs or videos.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the first touch gesture comprises one or more of a swipe, a flick, a drag, or a finger roll.

5. The method of claim 22, further comprising:

detecting a second touch gesture with the display interface and with respect to the second content item; and

placing, in response to the second touch gesture, a second content item thumbnail corresponding to the second content item in the second region.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising creating the second content item thumbnail in response to the second touch gesture.

7. The method of claim 6, wherein the share option enables the user to share the first content item and the second content item.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the user selects the collection of content items from a listing of collections of content items stored on one or more of:

the user device;

a social media network application;

or

an authorized account on a content management system.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein providing the share option further comprises generating a link, wherein the link enables the user to share any of the content items having corresponding content item thumbnails within the second region with at least one contact of the user.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein selection of the share option shares any content items having corresponding content item thumbnails in the second region by generating one or more of:

a URL link, an instant message, an SMS message, a social media network message, or an email.

12. The method of claim 1, further comprising uploading a duplicate version of the first content item to a content management system.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein placing the first content item thumbnail in the second region further comprises creating a first pointer to the first content item thumbnail on a content management system.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein:

the first pointer points to a duplicate version of the first content item; and

the duplicate version of the first content item is located at a root level of a user account on the content management system corresponding to the user.

21. The method of claim 1, further comprising, if the direction of the first touch gesture is neither towards or away from the second region, navigating the user interface away from the first content item and to another content item from the collection of content items.

22. The method of claim 1, further comprising replacing, within the user interface and in response to the first touch gesture, the first content item with a second content item from the collection of content items.

23. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

displaying a grid view of the collection of content items within the first region;

detecting a selection of the first content item from the grid view of the collection of content items; and

displaying, within the first region and in response to the detected selection of the first content item, the first content item in full screen mode.

24. The method of claim 23, further comprising:

providing, when the first content item is displayed in full screen mode, a plurality of options for interacting with the first content item, wherein the plurality of options comprise an option to add the first content item to a share bar, an option to remove the first content item from the collection of content items, and an option to navigate among the collection of content items, and wherein each of the plurality of options is associated with a corresponding touch gesture.

25. The method of claim 24, wherein:

the option to add the first content item to the share bar corresponds to an upward touch gesture,

the option to remove the first content item from the collection of content items corresponds to a downward touch gesture, and

the option to navigate among the collection of content items comprises a side-to-side touch gesture.

26. The method of claim 1, further comprising, if the direction of the first touch gesture is a downward direction, removing the first content item from the collection of content items.

15. A user device, comprising:

a display screen;

at least one image capturing component;

communications circuitry;

at least one processor; and

at least one non-transitory computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed by the at least one processor, cause the user device to;

display a user interface on the display screen, the user interface comprising a first region including a collection of content items and a second region;

detect a selection of a first content item from the collection of content items displayed in the first region;

display, in response to the detected selection, the first content item in full screen mode in the first region of the user interface;

provide a plurality of options to a user of the user device to interact with the first content item while in full screen mode, wherein the plurality of options comprise an option to add the first content item to a share bar, an option to remove the first content item from the collection of content items, and an option to navigate among the collection of content items, and wherein each of the plurality of options is associated with a corresponding touch gesture;

detect a touch gesture corresponding to one of the plurality of options; and

replace, within the user interface and in response to the touch gesture, the first content item with a second content item in full screen mode.

17. The user device of claim 15, wherein the detected gesture corresponds to the option to remove the first content item from the collection of content items, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the user device to:

send a notification to a content management system indicating that the first content item thumbnail has been removed from the collection of content items to synchronize the removal of the first content item from the collection of content items with a user account on the content management system.

19. The user device of claim 15, wherein the detected gesture corresponds to the option to add the first content item to the share bar, and wherein the instructions, when executed by the at least one processor, further cause the user device to:

add a thumbnail for the first content item to the second region of the user interface.
