Abstract

A stateless cord management device for storage and deployment of a cord, cable, or wire comprises a body having a sidewall with oppositely disposed open ends. A channel is at least partially defined by the sidewall and disposed therethrough between the oppositely disposed open ends. An access opening extends longitudinally along and through the sidewall between the oppositely disposed open ends of the sidewall. The access opening is at least partially defined by cooperatively disposed and abutting free ends of the sidewall, the free ends being at least partially separable from one another permitting access into the channel. A retention member extends into the channel along its width thereby at least partially defining a retention member recess for receipt and retention of at least a portion of a cord, cable, or wire therein.

Claims

1. A stateless cord management device for storage and deployment of a cord having a connector attached to at least one end thereof, said device comprising:

a body comprising a sidewall having a pair of oppositely disposed open ends,

a channel at least partially defined by said sidewall and disposed therethrough between said pair of oppositely disposed open ends,

an access opening extending longitudinally along and through said sidewall between said pair of oppositely disposed open ends, and

a retention assembly including a retention member having a length and a width, said retention member extending from a portion of said sidewall at least partially into said channel along said width and at least partially between said pair of oppositely disposed open ends along said length.

2. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said retention assembly further includes a retention member recess at least partially defined by a partially enclosed space between said retention member and said sidewall.

3. The device as recited in claim 2 wherein said retention member recess comprises an offset dimension that is greater than a minimum cross-sectional dimension of the cord and less than a minimum cross-sectional dimension of the connector of the cord.

4. The device as recited in claim 2 wherein said retention member further comprises a distal end.

5. The device as recited in claim 4 further comprising a retention member gap at least partially defined by a gap distance between said distal end of said retention member and said sidewall.

6. The device as recited in claim 4 wherein said retention member gap is dimensioned so as to substantially restrict unassisted passage of the cord through said retention member gap.

7. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said access opening is at least partially defined by cooperatively disposed and abutting free ends of said sidewall, said free ends being at least partially separable from one another permitting access into said channel.

8. The device as recited in claim 7 further comprising a relief channel disposed along said access opening, said relief channel at least partially defined by a reduced thickness of said sidewall to facilitate disposition of the cord through said access opening.

9. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said body is at least partially formed of a flexible material.

10. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said body is at least partially formed of a resilient material.

11. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said body is at least partially formed of a thermoplastic elastomer.

12. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said body further comprises at least one display area.

13. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said sidewall comprises a substantially cylindrical configuration.

14. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said sidewall comprises a substantially polygonal configuration.

15. The device as recited in claim 1 wherein said sidewall comprises a substantially triangular configuration.

16. A stateless cord management device for storage and deployment of a cord having a connector attached to at least one end thereof, said device comprising:

a body comprising a sidewall having a first open end and a second open end, said first open end and said second open end being oppositely disposed from one another,

a channel at least partially defined by said sidewall and disposed therethrough between said first open end and said second open end,

an access opening extending longitudinally along and through said sidewall between said first open end and said second open end,

said access opening is at least partially defined by cooperatively disposed and abutting free ends of the sidewall, said free ends being at least partially separable from one another permitting access into said channel, and

a retention member having a length and a width attached to a portion of said sidewall, wherein said retention member extends into said channel along said width thereby at least partially defining a retention member recess for receipt and retention of at least a portion of the cord therein.

17. A stateless cord management device for storage and deployment of a cord having a connector attached to at least one end thereof, said device comprising:

a body comprising a sidewall having a pair of oppositely disposed open ends,

said sidewall comprising a substantially cylindrical configuration,

a channel at least partially defined by said sidewall and disposed therethrough between said pair of oppositely disposed open ends,

a plurality of retention members each having a length and a width, wherein each of said plurality of retention members extends into said channel from oppositely disposed portions of said sidewall towards one another, and

said plurality of retention members and said sidewall at least partially defining a retention member recess.

18. The device as recited in claim 17 wherein each of said plurality of retention members further comprise a distal end.

19. The device as recited in claim 18 further comprising a retention member gap at least partially defined by a gap distance between said distal ends of said plurality of retention members.

20. The device as recited in claim 19 wherein said retention member gap is dimensioned to substantially restrict unassisted passage of the cord through said retention member gap.
