Abstract

Systems and methods are described for a power aggregation system. In one implementation, a method includes charging an electric resource over a power connection to an electric network, obtaining a unique identifier of a device over the power connection, and determining an electric network location of the electric resource from the unique identifier.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

charging an electric resource over a power connection to an electric network;

obtaining a unique identifier of a device over the power connection; and

determining an electric network location of the electric resource from the unique identifier.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising sending the unique identifier to a service, wherein the service determines an electric network location from the unique identifier.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the service uses the determined electric network location for aggregating power of distributed electric resources.

4. The method of claim 2, wherein the service uses the determined electric network location for a transaction of energy exchange associated with the electric resource.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the power connection comprises Broadband-over-powerline.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the power connection comprises Ethernet-over-powerline.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the power connection comprises USB-over-powerline.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the unique identifier comprises a media access control (MAC) address.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a smart meter.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a smart plug.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a modem.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the device comprises a router.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein the electric resource comprises an electric vehicle, a hybrid electric vehicle, or a vehicle that obtains at least some power for motion from an electric storage system.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the electric resource is connected to a power aggregation system.

15. A method, comprising:

broadcasting a ping to a wireless transceiver connected to an electric network;

receiving a unique identifier from the wireless transceiver; and

determining an electric network location from the unique identifier.

16. The method of claim 15, further comprising sending the unique identifier to a service, wherein the service determines an electric network location from the unique identifier.

17. The method of claim 16, wherein the service is connected to a power aggregation system.

18. A method, comprising:

transmitting a first unique identifier to a wireless transceiver connected to an electric network; and

receiving an electric network location from a service connected to the electric network.

19. The method of claim 18, wherein the wireless transceiver transmits a second unique identifier to the service, and the service determines the electric network location from the second unique identifier.

20. The method of claim 18, wherein the service is connected to a power aggregation system.
