Abstract

A system consuming energy provided from a battery including a first power source and a second power source. It may include an energy transferring circuit. The energy transferring circuit transfers power of at least one of the first and second power sources to the other of the first and second power sources. The first power source is arranged to provide power for at least one high dynamic power operation that instantaneously consumes large currents. The second power source is arranged to provide power for at least one static/medium power operation. The first power source and the second power source are supplying the system simultaneously.

Claims

1. A system consuming energy provided from a battery including a first power source and a second power source, comprising:

an energy transferring circuit, coupled to the battery, for transferring power of at least one of the first and second power sources to the other of the first and second power sources;

wherein the first power source is arranged to provide power for at least one high power operation that instantaneously consumes power;

the second power source is arranged to provide power for at least one low/medium power operation that does not consume high dynamic power; and

, the first power source and the second power source are used for supplying the system simultaneously.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the energy transferring circuit comprises a buck-boost converter used for executing one operation of:

stepping down the voltage of the second power source to the level of the first power source to transfer energy of the second power source to the first power source;

or

stepping up the voltage of the first power source to the level of the second power source to transfer energy of the first power source to the second power source.

3. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

at least one first power outputting circuit, coupled to the first power source, for converting a voltage of the first power source to provide a first voltage for the at least one high power operation; and

at least one second power outputting circuit, coupled to the second power source, for converting a voltage of the second power source to provide a second voltage for the at least one low/medium power operation;

wherein the second voltage is higher than the first voltage.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the voltage of the second power source is a multiple of the voltage of the first power source.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the first power source corresponds to high power density characteristic, and the second power source corresponds to high energy density characteristic.

6. The system of claim 3, wherein the at least one first power outputting circuit comprises a buck converter, and the at least one second power outputting circuit comprises at least one of a buck converter and a boost converter.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the first power source comprises a single battery cell, and the second power source comprises a plurality of battery cells connected in series.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the first power source comprises a rechargeable battery cell, and the second power source comprises an un-rechargeable battery cell.

9. The system of claim 1, comprising:

a power selecting circuit, coupled to the first power source and the power source, for dynamically selecting one of the first and second power sources to provide power for the at least one low/medium power operation.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the power selecting circuit is arranged for dynamically selecting the other one of the first and second power sources to provide power for the at least one high power operation.

11. A system consuming energy provided from a battery including a first power source and a second power source, comprising:

a power selecting circuit, coupled to the battery, for selecting one of the first and second power sources to provide power for at least one low/medium power operation, and selecting the other one of the first and second power sources to provide power for at least one high power operation;

wherein the first power source and the second power source are used for supplying the system simultaneously.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the power selecting circuit is arranged to dynamically select one of the first and second power sources to be charged by an external adaptor.

13. A method applied to a system consuming energy provided from a battery including a first power source and a second power source, comprising:

using the first power source to provide power for at least one high power operation that instantaneously consumes high power;

using the second power source to provide power for at least one low/medium power operation that does not consume high dynamic power; and

transferring power of at least one of the first and second power sources to the other of the first and second power sources;

wherein the first power source and the second power source are used for supplying the system simultaneously.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the step of transferring power of at least one of the first and second power sources to the other of the first and second power sources comprises:

stepping down the voltage of the second power source to the level of the first power source to transfer energy of the second power source to the first power source;

or

stepping up the voltage of the first power source to the level of the second power source to transfer energy of the first power source to the second power source.

15. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

providing at least one first power outputting circuit for converting a voltage of the first power source to provide a first voltage for the at least one high power operation; and

providing at least one second power outputting circuit for converting a voltage of the second power source to provide a second voltage for the at least one low/medium power operation;

wherein the second voltage is higher than the first voltage.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the voltage of the second power source is a multiple of the voltage of the first power source.

17. The method of claim 15, wherein the first power source corresponds to high power density characteristic, and the second power source corresponds to high energy density characteristic.

18. The method of claim 13, further comprising:

dynamically selecting one of the first and second power sources to provide power for the at least one low/medium power operation.

19. The method of claim 18, further comprising:

dynamically selecting the other one of the first and second power sources to provide power for the at least one high power operation.

20. A method applied to a system consuming energy provided from a battery including a first power source and a second power source, comprising:

selecting one of the first and second power sources to provide power for at least one low/medium power operation; and

selecting the other one of the first and second power sources to provide power for at least one high power operation;

wherein the first power source and the second power source are used for supplying the system simultaneously.

21. The method of claim 20, further comprising:

dynamically selecting one of the first and second power sources to be charged by an external adaptor.

22. A battery for providing energy for a system, comprising:

a first power source, for providing power for at least one high power operation that instantaneously consumes high power; and

a second power source, coupled to the first power source, for providing power for at least one low/medium power operation that does not instantaneously consume high dynamic power;

wherein the first power source and the second power source are supplying power for the system simultaneously.
