Abstract

A display control method of an electronic device is provided. The display control method includes sensing, by the electronic device, a chromaticity and an illuminance of an incident light, calculating an optimal white of a display based on the chromaticity of the incident light, and correcting the calculated optimal white by using the illuminance of the incident light.

Claims

1. A display control method of an electronic device, the method comprising:

sensing, by the electronic device, a chromaticity and an illuminance of an incident light;

calculating an optimal white of a display based on the chromaticity of the incident light; and

correcting the calculated optimal white by using the illuminance of the incident light.

2. The display control method according to claim 1, wherein, in the calculating of the optimal white of the display, the optimal white is calculable when the incident light is not located on a blackbody locus in a space where the incident light is defined with color coordinates.

3. The display control method according to claim 1, wherein the calculating of the optimal white of the display includes calculating the optimal white of the display under a first reference illuminance and a second reference illuminance.

4. The display control method according to claim 3, wherein the optimal white calculated under the second reference illuminance is set closer to color coordinates of the incident light than the optimal white calculated under the first reference illuminance.

The display control method according to claim 3, wherein the correcting of the calculated optimal white includes correcting the calculated optimal white by linearly interpolating the calculated optimal white between a red (R), green (G), and blue (B) grayscale value of the optimal white under the first reference illuminance and a maximum grayscale value, when the illuminance of the incident light is smaller than the first reference illuminance.

The display control method according to claim 3, wherein the correcting of the calculated optimal white includes correcting the calculated optimal white by interpolating the calculated optimal white between a red (R), green (G), and blue (B) grayscale value of the optimal white under the first reference illuminance and a R, G, and B grayscale value of the optimal white under the second illuminance using a logarithmic function, when the illuminance of the input light is not smaller than the first reference illuminance and is not greater than the second reference illuminance.

7. The display control method according to claim 3, wherein the correcting of the calculated optimal white includes selecting the optimal white under the second reference illuminance, when the illuminance of the incident light is larger than the second reference illuminance.

8. The display control method according to claim 1, wherein the calculating of the optimal white of the display includes:

classifying color types of the incident light; and

setting any one of grayscale values of red (R), green (G), and blue (B) of the chromaticity as a maximal grayscale value based on the classified color types, and calculating grayscale values in the optimal white for any remaining R, G, and B for which the grayscale values of the chromaticity are not set as the maximal grayscale value.

9. The display control method according to claim 8, wherein the classifying of the color type of the incident light includes classifying the color types of the incident light by normalizing grayscale values of R, G, and B of the chromaticity of the incident light.

10. The display control method according to claim 8, wherein the setting of the any one of the grayscale values of R, G, and B of the chromaticity and the calculating of the grayscale values is performed by using a pre-stored database.

11. The display control method according to claim 1, further comprising displaying content by using the corrected optimal white.

12. An electronic device comprising:

an image sensor configured to sense a chromaticity and an illuminance of an incident light; and

a control module configured to calculate an optimal white of a display based on the chromaticity of the incident light and to correct the calculated optimal white by using the illuminance of the incident light.

13. The electronic device according to claim 12, wherein the control module is further configured to calculate the optimal white of the display under a first reference illuminance and a second reference illuminance.

14. The electronic device according to claim 13, wherein the optimal white calculated under the second reference illuminance is set closer to color coordinates of the incident light with the chromaticity than the optimal white calculated under the first reference illuminance.

The electronic device according to claim 13, wherein the control module is further configured to correct the calculated optimal white by linearly interpolating the calculated optimal white between a red (R), green (G), and blue (B) grayscale value of the optimal white under the first reference illuminance and a maximum grayscale value, when the illuminance of the incident light is smaller than the first reference illuminance.

The electronic device according to claim 13, wherein the control module is further configured to correct the calculated optimal white by interpolating the calculated optimal white between a red (R), green (G), and blue (B) grayscale value of the optimal white under the first reference illuminance and a R, G, and B grayscale value of the optimal white under the second illuminance by using a logarithmic function, when the illuminance of the input light is not smaller than the first reference illuminance and is not greater than the second reference illuminance.

17. The electronic device according to claim 13, wherein the control module is further configured to select the optimal white under the second reference illuminance, when the illuminance of the incident light is greater than the second reference illuminance.

18. The electronic device according to claim 13, wherein the control module is further configured to calculate and correct the optimal white based on a relative arrangement of the image sensor and the display.

19. The electronic device according to claim 18, wherein the control module is further configured to calculate and correct the optimal white according to the incident light irradiated on the display, when the image sensor is arranged in a same direction as the display.

20. The electronic device according to claim 18, wherein the control module is further configured to calculate and correct the optimal white according to a reflection light reflected by an object around the electronic device, when the image sensor is arranged in a different direction from the display.
