1. An automatic vehicle exterior light control system, comprising:

  • an optical sensor;

    a processor in communication with the optical sensor and a speed sensor, the processor being configured to generate a control signal configured to control a lighting level of at least one light source as a function of a speed signal received from the speed sensor, wherein the processor is operable to;

    detect a vehicle speed from the speed signal;

    activate a first level of the light source;

    activate a light control subroutine in response to;

    the vehicle speed being maintained between a first speed and a second speed; and

    a detection of an external light from an external light source detected by the optical sensor; and

    wherein the light control subroutine comprises changing the light level from the first level to a second light level of the light source and maintaining the second light level until the processor detects the vehicle speed exceeding a third speed.
