Abstract

Disclosed herein are novel coatings and paints comprising a biomolecule composition, wherein the biomolecule composition comprises a phosphoric triester hydrolase. Also disclosed herein are methods of detoxification of a surface contaminated with an organophosphorus compound by contacting the surface with such a coating or paint. Also disclosed herein are novel coating and paint components derived from microorganisms.

322. A paint comprising an enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2, wherein the paint has undergone film formation to produce a solid, adherent film after being applied to a surface, wherein the enzymatically active esterase is capable of exhibiting catalytic activity at one or more instances greater than 1 year after the paint has undergone film formation;

and wherein the paint comprises a cell wall material;

wherein the cell wall material provides at least one property selected from a protective effect on the enzymatically active esterase from a paint component, a protective effect on the enzymatically active esterase from a paint related chemical reaction, and a stabilizing effect for the catalytic activity of the enzymatically active esterase.

323. The coating of claim 322, wherein the cell wall material is in the form of a cell fragment microorganism based particulate material.

324. The coating of claim 322, wherein the enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2 is at least one selected from a structural analog and a sequence analog.

The coating of claim 324, wherein the enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2 is a structural analog and a sequence analog, wherein structural analog comprises a Co²⁺, Fe²⁺, Cu²⁺, Mn²⁺, Cd²⁺, or Ni²⁺ at the enzyme active site, and wherein the sequence analog is an alteration in sequence length.

326. The coating of claim 322, wherein the coating comprises a binder, a liquid component, a colorant, an additive, or a combination thereof.

327. The coating of claim 326, wherein the binder comprises a thermoplastic binder, a thermosetting binder, or a combination thereof.

The coating of claim 326, wherein said additive comprises an accelerator, an adhesion promoter, an antifoamer, anti-insect additive, an antioxidant, an antiskinning agent, a buffer, a catalyst, a coalescing agent, a corrosion inhibitor, a cross-linking agent, a defoamer, a dehydrator, a dispersant, a drier, electrical additive, an emulsifier, a filler, a flame/fire retardant, a flatting agent, a flow control agent, a gloss aid, a leveling agent, a marproofing agent, a preservative, a silicone additive, a slip agent, a surfactant, a light stabilizer, a rheological control agent, a wetting additive, or a combination thereof.

329. The coating of claim 328, wherein the additive comprises 0.001% to 20.0% by weight, of the coating.

330. The coating of claim 329, wherein the binder comprises a polymer resin, wherein the additive comprises a combination of additives, wherein the combination of additives comprises a crosslinking agent and at least two ultraviolet light stabilizers whereby at least one light stabilizer is a sterically hindered amine, and at least one light stabilizer is a UV absorber, said UV absorber present at a concentration in excess of 5% by weight.

331. The coating of claim 330, wherein said sterically hindered amine is bis(1,2,2,6,6,-pentamethyl-4-poperidinyl) ester or bis(2,2,6,6,-tetramethyl-1-isooctyloxy-4-piperidinyl) ester.

332. A coating comprising an enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2, wherein the coating is a clear coating, wherein the clear coating has undergone film formation to produce a solid, adherent film after being applied to a surface, wherein the enzymatically active esterase is capable of exhibiting catalytic activity at one or more instances greater than 1 year after the clear coating has undergone film formation;

and wherein the clear coating comprises a cell wall material;

wherein the cell wall material provides at least one property selected from a protective effect on the enzymatically active esterase from a clear coating component, a protective effect on the enzymatically active esterase from a clear coating related chemical reaction, and a stabilizing effect for the catalytic activity of the enzymatically active esterase.

333. The coating of claim 332, wherein the cell wall material is in the form of a cell fragment microorganism based particulate material.

334. The coating of claim 332, wherein the enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2 is at least one selected from a structural analog and a sequence analog.

335. The coating of claim 334, wherein the enzymatically active esterase classified in an enzyme subclass designated by Enzyme Commission number EC 3.1.8.1 or EC 3.1.8.2 is a structural analog and a sequence analog, wherein structural analog comprises a Co²⁺, Fe²⁺, Cu²⁺, Mn²⁺, Cd²⁺, or Ni²⁺ at the enzyme active site, and wherein the sequence analog is an alteration in sequence length.

336. The coating of claim 332, wherein the coating comprises a binder, a liquid component, a colorant, an additive, or a combination thereof.

337. The coating of claim 336, wherein the binder comprises a thermoplastic binder, a thermosetting binder, or a combination thereof.

The coating of claim 336, wherein said additive comprises an accelerator, an adhesion promoter, an antifoamer, anti-insect additive, an antioxidant, an antiskinning agent, a buffer, a catalyst, a coalescing agent, a corrosion inhibitor, a cross-linking agent, a defoamer, a dehydrator, a dispersant, a drier, electrical additive, an emulsifier, a filler, a flame/fire retardant, a flatting agent, a flow control agent, a gloss aid, a leveling agent, a marproofing agent, a preservative, a silicone additive, a slip agent, a surfactant, a light stabilizer, a rheological control agent, a wetting additive, or a combination thereof.

339. The coating of claim 338, wherein the additive comprises 0.001% to 20.0% by weight, of the coating.

The coating of claim 339, wherein the binder comprises a polymer resin, wherein the additive comprises a combination of additives, wherein the combination of additives comprises a crosslinking agent and a light stabilizer, wherein the light stabilizer comprise at least two ultraviolet light stabilizers whereby at least one light stabilizer is a sterically hindered amine, and at least one light stabilizer is a UV absorber, said UV absorber present at a concentration in excess of 5% by weight.

341. The coating of claim 340, wherein said sterically hindered amine is bis(1,2,2,6,6,-pentamethyl-4-poperidinyl) ester or bis(2,2,6,6,-tetramethyl-1-isooctyloxy-4-piperidinyl) ester.
