Abstract

A method and system is disclosed that allows a user to easily and intuitively operate applications that require contact information, in a touch device, via a tray item associated with the contact information. The method for operating applications includes: displaying a contact tray comprised of a number of tray items based on contact information, on an execution screen; receiving an interaction to use a tray item in the contact tray; configuring an execution screen for an application based on contact information of the tray item; and operating the application based on the configured execution screen.

Claims

1. An apparatus comprising:

a display to display a visual object corresponding to a contact information; and

a controller operatively coupled with the display, the controller configured to;

receive an input to the visual object;

display information associated with the contact information in response to receiving the input to the visual object; and

operate a function corresponding to the information in response to receiving another input to the information.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the visual object comprises a user image, or a name.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the visual object is configured to be displayed on a home screen, or an execution screen corresponding to an application, via the display.

4. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the contact information comprises phone number, name, user image, email address, social network address, or a combination thereof.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the information comprises an icon representing the function or at least one portion of the contact information.

6. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the function comprises call, message, email, social network service, or a combination thereof.

7. An apparatus comprising:

a display to display an object representing a content on a first window, and to display a second window that is corresponding to an application; and

a controller, the controller configured to;

receive an input corresponding to the object;

identify that the input moves to a region corresponding to the second window;

select at least one portion of the content based at least in part on a type corresponding to the region; and

operate the application using the at least one portion of the content.

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the content comprises image, number, text, event, or a combination thereof.

9. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the region comprises data field corresponding to the application.

10. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the application comprises e-mail, messaging, internet, multimedia function, search function, e-book, photographing, memo, home screen, or a combination thereof.

11. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the controller is configured to:

extract the at least one portion of the content from the content.

12. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the controller is configured to:

move or copy the at least one portion of the content to the region.

13. The apparatus of claim 12, wherein the controller is configured to:

move the object from the first window to the region, representing that the at least one portion of the content is to be copied from the first window to the region.

14. An apparatus comprising:

a display to display a first object representing a content on a first window, and to display a second object on a second window that is associated with at least one application; and

a controller, the controller configured to;

receive an input corresponding to the first object;

identify that the input moves to the second object;

select at least one region for the content to be used to the at least one application based at least in part on a type of the content; and

operate a second application using the content.

15. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the content comprises image, number, text, or a combination thereof.

16. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the at least one application comprises message, email, social network service, or a combination thereof.

17. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the second object is representing another content, and wherein the controller is configured to:

determine the at least one application based at least in part on the content or the other content.

18. The apparatus of claim 17, wherein the controller is configured to:

extract at least one portion of the other content based at least in part on a type of data field to be used for the at least one application.

19. The apparatus of claim 14, wherein the controller is configured to:

move or copy the content to the at least one application.

20. The apparatus of claim 14, the region comprises data field corresponding to the at least one application, and wherein the controller is configured to:

determine a type of the data field based at least in part on a type corresponding to the content.
