Abstract

Systems and methods of augmented reality alarm system installation are provided. Methods can include capturing an image of a first piece of information displayed on a first user interface, identifying and retrieving a second piece of information associated with the first piece of information, and displaying the second piece of information on a second user interface.

Claims

1. A method comprising:

capturing an image of a first piece of information displayed on a first user interface;

identifying and retrieving a second piece of information associated with the first piece of information; and

displaying the second piece of information on a second user interface.

2. The method of claim 1 wherein capturing the image of the first piece of information displayed on the first user interface includes a data capture device capturing the image.

3. The method of claim 1 wherein capturing the image of the first piece of information displayed on the first user interface includes capturing an image of all information displayed on the first user interface.

4. The method of claim 1 wherein capturing the image of the first piece of information displayed on the first user interface includes capturing an image of a numeric, alphanumeric, or symbolic code displayed on the first user interface.

5. The method of claim 1 wherein capturing the image of the first piece of information displayed on the first user interface includes capturing an image of a graphic displayed on the first user interface.

6. The method of claim 5 wherein capturing the image of the graphic displayed on the first user interface includes capturing an image of a bar code or a QR code displayed on the first user interface.

7. The method of claim 1 wherein capturing the image of the first piece of information displayed on the first user interface includes capturing modulation of a keypad LED or other visual indicator.

8. The method of claim 1 wherein identifying and retrieving the second piece of information associated with the first piece of information includes locating the second piece of information stored in a database or on a server.

9. The method of claim 8 further comprising updating the second piece of information stored in the database or on the server.

10. The method of claim 1 wherein identifying and retrieving the second piece of information associated with the first piece of information includes cross-referencing the first piece of information in a database or on a server.

11. A system comprising:

a data capture device;

a first user interface;

a programmable processor; and

executable control software stored on a non-transitory computer readable medium,

wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software instruct the data capture device to capture an image of a first piece of information displayed on a second, remote user interface,

wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software identify and retrieve a second piece of information associated with the first piece of information, and

wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software instruct the first user interface to display the second piece of information.

12. The system of claim 11 wherein the data capture device includes a camera.

13. The system of claim 11 further comprising a database stored in a local memory device, wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software identify the second piece of information in and retrieve the second piece of information from the database.

14. The system of claim 11 further comprising a database stored on a local server device, wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software identify the second piece of information in and retrieve the second piece of information from the database.

15. The system of claim 11 further comprising a database stored on a remote server device, wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software identify the second piece of information in and retrieve the second piece of information from the database, and wherein the programmable processor and the executable control software communicate with the remote server device via remote communication.

16. A method comprising:

capturing modulation of an audio indicator associated with a first user interface;

identifying and retrieving a piece of information associated with the modulation; and

displaying the piece of information on a second user interface.

17. The method of claim 16 wherein capturing the modulation of the audio indicator associated with the first user interface includes a microphone capturing the modulation.

18. The method of claim 16 wherein identifying and retrieving the piece of information associated with the modulation includes locating the piece of information stored in a database or on a server.

19. The method of claim 18 further comprising updating the piece of information stored in the database or on the server.

20. The method of claim 16 wherein identifying and retrieving the piece of information associated with the modulation includes cross-referencing the modulation in a database or on a server.

21. A method comprising:

instructing a data capture device of a smart device to capture an image of a first piece of information displayed on a user interface of an alarm system;

identifying and retrieving a second piece of information associated with the first piece of information; and

displaying the second piece of information on a user interface of the smart device.

22. The method of claim 21 wherein instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture the image of the first piece of information displayed on the user interface of the alarm system includes instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture an image of all information displayed on the user interface of the alarm system, instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture an image of a numeric, alphanumeric, or symbolic code displayed on the user interface of the alarm system, or instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture an image of a graphic displayed on the user interface of the alarm system.

23. The method of claim 21 wherein instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture the image of the first piece of information displayed on the user interface of the alarm system includes instructing the data capture device of the smart device to capture modulation of a keypad of the alarm system.

24. The method of claim 21 wherein identifying and retrieving the second piece of information associated with the first piece of information includes identifying the second piece of information in and retrieving the second piece of information from a database or a server.

25. The method of claim 24 further comprising updating the second piece of information stored in the database or on the server.
