Abstract

A tray assembly able to be quickly installed and removed from the handle struts of a wheeled luggage bag by a mounting engaging the struts and a tray included in the tray assembly flipped down from the mounting to provide a horizontal support for various articles such as small electronic devices such as laptops, tablets, at a selected level above the top of the luggage bag. The tray is flipped back up to minimize the size of the tray assembly for convenient storage in the luggage back itself

Claims

1. A tray assembly adapted to be mounted to a pair of spaced apart handle struts of a wheeled luggage bag which struts may be moved from a retracted position within the bag to an extended position above a top of the wheeled luggage bag, comprising:

a tray defining a flat surface for placing items thereon; and

a mounting arrangement connected to said tray and arranged to be engaged with said extended handle struts at any point along the struts so as to thereby mount said tray to said luggage bag at any selected level on said struts above the top of said luggage bag.

The tray assembly according to claim 1 wherein said mounting arrangement includes a pair of elongated swing arms each mounted at an inner end thereof to a central structure and extending outwardly so as to be of a distance greater than the space between said struts, said swing arms resisting movement together and generating a restoring for when compressed towards each other such that after being compressed and positioned between said struts and released said restoring force causes said swing arms to swing out and said outer ends to engage a respective handle strut and create a frictional engagement therewith.

The tray assembly according to claim 2 wherein said inner end of each said swing arms are pivotally connected to said central structure to allow said outward swinging motion and further including a respective spring acting on each swing arm urging said associated swing arm outer ends to normally be spaced apart a distance greater than said spacing between said struts.

The tray assembly according to claim 2 wherein said swing arms are resiliently deflectable inwardly from said spaced apart condition, said resiliency generating said restoring force to be able to move said outer ends closer together when compressed towards each other to allow squeezing the swing arm outer ends closer together so as to enable positioning said swing arms between said struts and upon releasing said swing arms, said swing arms push against said struts to be frictionally held thereto.
