Abstract

A display device may include a first substrate having a display area and a non-display area, a second substrate opposite the first substrate, a light shielding sealant on at least one side surface of the first and second substrates, and a first polarizer on at least one surface of the first and second substrates. The first polarizer may intersect an imaginary surface extending from the at least one side surface.

Claims

1. A display device comprising:

a first substrate having a display area and a non-display area;

a second substrate opposite the first substrate;

a light shielding sealant on at least one side surface of the first and second substrates; and

a first polarizer on at least one surface of the first and second substrates,

wherein the first polarizer intersects an imaginary surface extending from the at least one side surface.

2. The display device of claim 1, wherein the light shielding sealant is in contact with at least one of a side surface and a lower surface of the first polarizer.

3. The display device of claim 1, wherein a distance between an end portion of the first polarizer and the side surface is in a range of about 1 micrometer to about 500 micrometers.

4. The display device of claim 1, further comprising:

a second polarizer on another surface of the first and second substrates.

5. The display device of claim 4, wherein the second polarizer intersects an imaginary surface extending from the at least one side surface.

6. The display device of claim 5, wherein the light shielding sealant is in contact with at least one of a side surface and a lower surface of the second polarizer.

7. The display device of claim 5, wherein a distance between an end portion of the second polarizer and the side surface is in a range of about 1 micrometer to about 500 micrometers.

8. The display device of claim 5, wherein the end portions of the first and second polarizers are disposed on the same surface.
