Abstract

Arrangements relate to the determining of personalized speed limit information for a driver of a first vehicle. A plurality of inputs related to vehicle safe speed data for the first vehicle can be received. The plurality of inputs can include vehicle data received from one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle. Based on the plurality of inputs, a recommended safe speed limit for a current driver of the first vehicle can be determined. The determined recommended safe speed limit can be presented to the current driver of the first vehicle.

Claims

1. A method of determining personalized speed limit information, comprising:

receiving a plurality of inputs related to vehicle safe speed data for a first vehicle, the plurality of inputs including vehicle data received from one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle;

determining, using a processor, a recommended safe speed limit for a current driver of the first vehicle based on the plurality of inputs; and

presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit to the current driver of the first vehicle.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit to the current driver of the first vehicle comprises presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit on an in-vehicle display.

3. The method of claim 1, further including sending a safety message to a non-driver of the first vehicle.

4. The method of claim 1, further including transmitting vehicle data from the first vehicle to at least one of the one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein vehicle data received from one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle includes current speed or current vehicle condition of the one or more other vehicles.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of inputs further includes a predicted traffic condition.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the plurality of inputs further includes information relating to the first vehicle and information relating to one or more conditions external to the first vehicle.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein determining, using a processor, the recommended safe speed limit for the current driver of the first vehicle based on the plurality of inputs is performed in real-time.

9. A system comprising:

a processor programmed to initiate executable operations comprising;

receiving a plurality of inputs related to vehicle safe speed data for a first vehicle, the plurality of inputs including vehicle data received from one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle;

determining a recommended safe speed limit for a current driver of the first vehicle based on the plurality of inputs; and

presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit to the current driver of the first vehicle.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit to the current driver of the first vehicle comprises presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit on an in-vehicle display.

11. The system of claim 9, further including sending a safety message to a non-driver of the first vehicle.

12. The system of claim 9, further including transmitting vehicle data from the first vehicle to at least one of the one or more vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle.

13. The system of claim 9, wherein vehicle data received from the one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle includes current speed or current vehicle condition of the one or more other vehicles.

14. The system of claim 9, wherein the plurality of inputs further includes a predicted traffic condition.

15. The system of claim 9, wherein the plurality of first further includes internal vehicle information and external condition data.

16. A computer program product for determining personalized speed limit information, the computer program product comprising a computer readable storage medium having program code embodied therewith, the program code executable by a processor to perform a method comprising:

receiving a plurality of inputs related to vehicle safe speed data for a first vehicle, the plurality of inputs including vehicle data received from one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle;

determining a recommended safe speed limit for a current driver of the first vehicle based on the plurality of inputs; and

presenting the determined recommended safe speed limit to the current driver of the first vehicle.

17. The computer program product of claim 16, further including transmitting vehicle data from the first vehicle to at least one of the one or more vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle.

18. The computer program product of claim 17, wherein vehicle data received from the one or more other vehicles proximate the first vehicle and communicatively linked to the first vehicle includes current speed or current vehicle condition of the one or more other vehicles.

19. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein the plurality of inputs further includes a predicted traffic condition.

20. The computer program product of claim 16, wherein the plurality of inputs further includes internal vehicle information and external condition data.
