Abstract

The present invention relates to analytical testing devices comprising a resistor for cartridge device identification and methods for assaying coagulation in a fluid sample based on the cartridge device identification, and in particular, to performing coagulation assays using a resistor for cartridge device identification in a point of care test cartridge. For example, the present invention may be directed to a chip including an analyte electrode connected to a first connection pin, a reference electrode connected to a second connection pin, and a resistor connected to the second connection pin and a third connection pin.

Claims

1. A chip comprising:

an analyte electrode connected to a first connection pin;

a reference electrode connected to a second connection pin; and

a resistor connected to the second connection pin and a third connection pin.

2. The chip of claim 1, wherein the analyte electrode is an amperometric electrode and the first connection pin is a first amperometric connection pin.

3. The chip of claim 2, wherein the second connection pin is a low conductivity connection pin.

4. The chip of claim 3, wherein the third connection pin is a resistor connection pin.

5. The chip of claim 4, wherein the resistor is a wire, and at least a geometrical value of the wire or a material of the wire is set based on an analyte detectable by the analyte electrode.

6. A system for identifying an analyte measured with a chip, the system comprising:

an analyte electrode connected to a first connection pin;

a reference electrode connected to a second connection pin;

a resistor with a predetermined resistance value that is connected to the second connection pin and a third connection pin; and

a processor configured to measure a resistance between the second connection pin and the third connection pin, and compare the measured resistance to known values within an electronic look-up table to identify the analyte the chip measures.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the analyte electrode is an amperometric electrode and the first connection pin is a first amperometric connection pin.

8. The system of claim 7, wherein the second connection pin is a low conductivity connection pin.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the third connection pin is a resistor connection pin.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the resistor is a wire, and at least a geometrical value of the wire or a material of the wire is set based on the analyte the chip measures.

11. A system of identifying a set of analytes measured with a chip, the system comprising:

a plurality of analyte electrodes each connected to one of a plurality of connection pins;

a reference electrode connected to a second connection pin;

a resistor with a predetermined resistance value that is connected to the second connection pin and a third connection pin; and

a processor configured to measure a resistance between the second connection pin and the third connection pin, and compare the measured resistance to known values within an electronic look-up table to identify the set of analytes the chip measures.

12. The system of claim 11, wherein the second connection pin is a low conductivity connection pin.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein the third connection pin is a resistor connection pin.

14. The system of claim 13, wherein the resistor is a wire, and at least a geometrical value of the wire or a material of the wire is set based on the set of analytes the chip measures.
