Abstract

A color filter includes a first filtering part and a number of first quantum dot particles formed in the first filtering part. A color of the first filtering part is a first primary color. The first quantum dot particles convert a light having a wavelength less than a wavelength of the first primary color to a light with the first primary color.

Claims

1. A color filter comprising:

a plurality of filtering parts;

a black matrix separating the plurality of filtering parts; and

a plurality of sets of quantum dot particles selectively formed in at least one of the plurality of filtering parts;

wherein, at least one of the plurality of filtering parts allows a predetermined first primary color light wavelength to pass through the filtering part; and

wherein, the quantum dot particle sets selectively formed in the at least one filtering parts converts light having a wavelength lower than the predetermined first primary color light wavelength to the predetermined first primary color light wavelength.

2. The color filter of claim 1, wherein the predetermined first primary color is green.

3. The color filter of claim 1, wherein

at least one of the plurality of the filtering part is transparent;

and

at least one set of the quantum dot particles formed in the at least one transparent filtering part;

wherein the at least one set of the quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength lower than a predetermined second primary color wavelength to the predetermined second primary color wavelength.

4. The color filter of claim 1, wherein

at least one of the plurality of the filtering parts allows a predetermined second primary color light wavelength to pass through the at least one of the filtering part;

and

at least one set of quantum dot particles formed in the at least one of the plurality of the filtering parts allowing the predetermined second primary color to pass through are capable of converting light having a wavelength lower than the predetermined second primary color wavelength to the predetermined second primary color wavelength.

5. The color filter of claim 4, wherein the predetermined second primary color is red.

6. The color filter of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of the filtering parts allows a predetermined third primary color light wavelength to pass through the at least one of the filtering part and without any quantum dots particles formed therein.

7. The color filter of claim 6, wherein the third primary color is blue.

8. The color filter of claim 1, wherein at least one of the plurality of the filtering parts is transparent and without any quantum dot particles formed therein.

9. A display panel comprising:

a lighting device emitting a white backlight; and

a color filter layer converting the white backlight to light with three-primary colors;

wherein the color filter layer comprises a first filtering part having a first primary color and a plurality of first quantum dot particles formed in the first filtering part, the first filtering part selectively only lets light with a first wavelength corresponding to the first primary color passes through, and the first quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength less than the first wavelength to light with the first wavelength.

10. The display panel of claim 9, wherein the lighting device is an organic light emitting diode array substrate.

11. The display panel of claim 9, wherein the first primary color is green.

The display panel of claim 9, wherein the color filter further comprises a transparent second filtering part and a plurality of second quantum dot particles formed in the second filtering part, and the second quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength less than a second wavelength to light with the second wavelength, the second wavelength being corresponding to a second primary color.

13. The display panel of claim 9, wherein the color filter further comprises a second filtering part with a second primary color and a plurality of quantum dot particles formed in the second filtering part, the second filtering part selectively only let light with a second wavelength corresponding to the second primary color passes through, and the second quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength less than the second wavelength to light with the second wavelength.

14. The display panel of claim 13, wherein the second primary color is red.

15. The display panel of claim 9, wherein the color filter further comprises a third filtering part having a third primary color and without any quantum dots particles formed therein.

16. The display panel of claim 15, wherein a color of the third filtering part is blue.

17. The display panel of claim 9, wherein the color filter further comprises a transparent fourth filtering part without any quantum dot particles formed therein and the white backlight passes through the fourth filtering part without any color conversion.

18. A display panel comprising:

a lighting device emitting a blue backlight; and

a color filter converting the blue backlight to light with three-primary colors;

wherein the color filter layer comprises a first filtering part having a first primary color and a plurality of first quantum dot particles formed in the first filtering part, the first filtering part selectively only lets light with a first wavelength corresponding to the first primary color passes through, and the first quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength less than the first wavelength to light with the first wavelength.

19. The display panel of claim 18, wherein the first primary color is green.

20. The display panel of claim 19, wherein the color filter further comprises a transparent second filtering part, a blue third filtering part, and a plurality of second quantum dot particles formed in the second filtering part, wherein the second quantum dot particles are capable of converting light having a wavelength less than a wavelength of red light to the red light.
