Abstract

Method and system including displaying a first representation of a medication treatment parameter profile, displaying a first representation of a physiological profile associated with the medication treatment parameter profile, detecting a modification to a segment of the medication treatment parameter profile, displaying a modified representation of the medication treatment parameter profile and the physiological profile based on the detected modification to the segment of the medication treatment parameter profile, modifying an attribute of the first representation of the medication treatment parameter profile, and modifying an attribute of the first representation of the physiological profile are provided.

Claims

1. An electronic insulin delivery apparatus capable of Bluetooth data transmission, comprising:

an analyte sensor positionable in contact with fluid in a user'"'"'s body and configured to detect an analyte level of the user;

a data transmitter communicatively coupled to the analyte sensor and configured to transmit information corresponding to a detected analyte level of the user over a communication link;

a data receiver configured to receive, over the communication link, the information corresponding to the detected analyte level of the user;

an insulin infusion pump communicatively coupled with the data receiver and configured to deliver insulin to the body of the user; and

one or more processors communicatively coupled with the data receiver and the insulin infusion pump, the one or more processors programmed to control the delivery of insulin from the insulin infusion pump based on the information corresponding to the detected analyte level of the user,

wherein the communication link is a Bluetooth communication link and the data transmitter and data receiver are configured to communicate the information corresponding to the detected analyte level over the Bluetooth communication link.

2. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising an infusion tube and an infusion cannula, the infusion tube coupled with the insulin infusion pump.

3. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the data transmitter is configured to transmit the information corresponding to the detected analyte level of the user over the Bluetooth communication link substantially in real time.

The apparatus of claim 3, wherein the data transmitter is configured to transmit information corresponding to a plurality of detected analyte levels substantially in real time over a predefined time period, and wherein the one or more processors are programmed to control the delivery of insulin from the insulin infusion pump based on a rate of change of the detected analyte levels over the predefined time period.

5. The apparatus of claim 1, further comprising a display unit coupled with the one or more processors and a memory.

6. The apparatus of claim 5, wherein the analyte is glucose, and wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to simultaneously display:

a horizontal time scale represented by a least one time axis,

a first representation of a insulin treatment parameter profile comprising a vertical basal insulin axis and a user modifiable first trace line of basal insulin over the horizontal time scale, and

a first representation of a physiological profile associated with the insulin treatment parameter profile comprising a vertical glucose parameter axis and a first trace line of a glucose parameter over the horizontal time scale.

The apparatus of claim 6, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to detect a horizontal and vertical modification to the first trace line of basal insulin and determine a corresponding modification to the first trace line of the glucose parameter based on the detected modification to the first trace line of basal insulin.

8. The apparatus of claim 7, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to simultaneously display:

a modified representation of the insulin treatment parameter profile comprising the vertical basal insulin axis, the first trace line of basal insulin over the horizontal time scale, and a second trace line of basal insulin over the horizontal time scale based on the detected modification to first trace line of basal insulin over the horizontal time scale, and

a modified representation of the physiological profile comprising the vertical glucose parameter axis, the first trace line of the glucose parameter over the horizontal time scale, and a second trace line of the glucose parameter over the horizontal time scale based on the determined corresponding modification to the first trace line of the glucose parameter over the horizontal time scale.

The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to modify a visual attribute associated with the physiological profile without modifying an underlying value associated with the first representation of the physiological profile, and to modify a visual attribute associated with the first representation of the insulin treatment parameter profile without modifying the underlying value associated with the insulin treatment parameter profile.

The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the memory stores instructions that, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to communicate a modified insulin delivery parameter to the insulin infusion pump, the modified insulin delivery parameter based on the detected modification to the first trace line of basal insulin.

11. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the memory stores instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to display one or more boundaries associated with the physiological profile.

12. The apparatus of claim 11, wherein the memory stores instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to output an error indication when the modified representation of the physiological profile exceeds the one or more boundaries.

13. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the memory stores instructions which, when executed by the one or more processors, causes the one or more processors to monitor data related to the physiological profile based on a rate of change of the physiological profile, and determine trend data based on the rate of change of the physiological profile.

14. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the glucose parameter of the physiological profile includes at least one of a median glucose profile, an upper quartile glucose profile, and a lower quartile glucose profile.

15. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the glucose parameter of the physiological profile includes a median glucose profile, an upper quartile glucose profile, and a lower quartile glucose profile.

16. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the first trace line is curved.

17. The apparatus of claim 8, wherein the at least one time axis is in the first representation of the insulin treatment parameter profile, and wherein the horizontal time scale is further represented by a second time axis in the first representation of the physiological profile.

18. The apparatus of claim 1, wherein the one or more processors and the insulin infusion pump are within a fluid delivery device.

19. The apparatus of claim 18, wherein the data receiver is configured to communicate with the fluid delivery device over another Bluetooth communication link.
