21. A surface cleaning apparatus comprising:
-
(a) a portable surface cleaning unit that is removably mounted to a portion of the surface cleaning apparatus, the portable surface cleaning unit comprising air treatment member and a suction motor powered by a power source; (b) an air flow conduit provided upstream of the air treatment member, the air flow conduit is removable with the portable surface cleaning unit from the portion of the surface cleaning apparatus, the air flow conduit having an air inlet end having electrical connectors; (c) an electrically powered cleaning member that is removably connectable in air flow communication with the air inlet end of the air flow conduit at a location that is upstream of the air inlet end of the air flow conduit; (d) a main electrical switch provided on the portable surface cleaning unit; and
,(e) a remote switch electrically connected to the main electrical switch, the remote switch is provided on the air inlet end of the air flow conduit and operable by connection of the electrically powered cleaning member in air flow communication with the air inlet end of the air flow conduit; wherein when the main electrical switch is in a closed position and when the electrically powered cleaning member is connected in air flow communication with the air inlet end of the air flow conduit, the remote switch is closed and the electrical connectors are electrified. - View Dependent Claims (22, 23, 24, 25, 26)

(a) a surface cleaning head comprising a dirty air inlet, a brush and a rotatable brush motor; (b) air flow path extending from the dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet and including an air treatment member and a suction motor; (c) a main electrical switch; and
,(d) a switching circuit operable in a first mode wherein power is supplied to the suction motor and the rotatable brush motor and the switching circuit is also operable in a second mode wherein power is supplied to the suction motor but not the rotatable brush motor. - View Dependent Claims (28, 29, 30, 31)

(a) a surface cleaning head having a dirty air inlet and an air flow path extending from the first dirty air inlet to a clean air outlet and including a suction motor and an air treatment member; and
