Abstract

A network of intermediate device systems may be detachably coupled to an illumination pole electrically connected to a power source. The intermediate device system may comprise a housing with an exterior surface and an interior cavity configured to receive at least one electrical device. The intermediate device system may comprise a control unit communicatively coupled to a processor and configured to receive and process substantially real-time information from at least one of the electronic devices and create a data set based on the received real-time information. The data set may comprise a parameter of the surrounding environment and/or an instruction set configured to operate the at least one electrical devices within the intermediate device system and/or a second intermediate device system within the network. The intermediate device system may also comprise a communication module communicatively coupled to the control unit that forms a bidirectional communication channel to facilitate transfer of the data set between the intermediate device system and a second communication module of the second intermediate device system and receive an incoming data set from the second communication module.

Claims

1. A network of intermediate device systems, wherein each intermediate device system is configured to be detachably coupled to a pole structure electrically connected to a power source, comprising:

a housing comprising an exterior surface and an interior cavity, wherein the interior cavity is configured to receive a plurality of electronic devices;

a control unit disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to a processor, wherein the control unit is configured to;

receive and process substantially real-time information from at least one of the electronic devices; and

create a data set based on the received substantially real-time information, wherein the data set comprises at least one of;

a parameter of the surrounding environment; and

an instruction set configured to operate the plurality of electronic devices within at least one of;

the intermediate device system and a second intermediate device system within the network; and

a communication module disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to the control unit, wherein the communication module is configured to form a bidirectional communication channel to;

facilitate transfer of the data set between the control unit of the intermediate device system and a second communication module of the second intermediate device system; and

receive an incoming data set from the second communication module of the second intermediate device system.

The intermediate device system of claim 1, further comprising a power supply disposed within the housing and communicatively coupled to at least one of the control unit and the communication module, wherein the power supply is configured to convert the electrical power from one format to another format.

3. The intermediate device system of claim 2, wherein the power supply is further configured to power a remote device coupled to the pole structure.

4. The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the communication module communicates with the intermediate device system and the second communication module using at least one of radio frequency, WIFI, cellular, hard wired communication lines, infrared, and fiber optic lines.

5. The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the incoming data set received by the communication module triggers activation of the at least one of the plurality of electronic devices of the at least one of:

the intermediate device system; and

the second intermediate device.

6. The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the communication module is further configured to transmit the data set to a remote client.

The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the communication module is further configured to receive a second incoming data set from a remote client, wherein the second incoming data set comprises a second data set is configured to operate the at least one of plurality of electronic devices.

The intermediate device system of claim 7, wherein the second incoming data set received from the remote client triggers activation of the at least one of the plurality of electronic devices of the at least one of the intermediate device system, the second intermediate device, and a remote device.

9. The intermediate device system of claim 1, further comprising an upper section detachably coupled to a lower section to form the interior cavity, wherein:

the lower section is configured to receive the plurality of electronic devices; and

the upper section is detachably coupled to the lower section with a hinge that allows the lower section to swing out from the upper section as an access door.

10. The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the housing further comprises an attachment system for receiving and detachably attaching to a portion of the pole structure.

11. The intermediate device system of claim 10, further comprising a landing pad for receiving an unmanned aerial vehicle disposed on a top surface of the attachment system, wherein the landing pad is configured to receive power from the power supply.

12. The intermediate device system of claim 1, wherein the housing further comprises at least one access port for at least one of the power source, an auxiliary device, a backup power system, and a mounting device.

The intermediate device system of claim 1, further comprising a global positioning system module communicatively coupled to the control unit, wherein the global positioning system module is configured to report a geographical location of at least a portion of the pole structure to at least one of a plurality of additional intermediate device systems and at least one of a plurality of remote clients.

14. The intermediate device system of claim 1, further comprising an accelerometer communicatively coupled to the control unit, wherein the accelerometer is configured to determine a structural integrity of the pole structure.

15. The intermediate device system of claim 1, further configured to operate a suite of software, wherein the software is configured to:

analyze the data set;

augment the data set with additional data from the plurality of electronic devices, auxiliary devices, remote clients, and remote devices; and

perform a task based on the augmented data set, where the task may be performed by an individual intermediate device system or a plurality of intermediate device systems.

16. The intermediate device system of claim 6, wherein the remote client may further comprise a cell phone or a RFID tag.

17. The intermediate device system of claim 1, further comprising a photovoltaic cell disposed on the exterior surface of the housing.

18. An autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems, wherein each intermediate device system is configured to be detachably coupled to a pole structure electrically connected to a power source, comprising:

a housing comprising an exterior surface and an interior cavity, wherein the interior cavity is configured to receive at least a plurality of electronic devices;

a control unit disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to a processor, wherein the control unit is configured to;

receive and process substantially real-time information from at least one of the electronic devices; and

create a data set based on the received substantially real-time information, wherein the data set comprises at least one of;

a parameter of a local environmental condition; and

an instruction set configured to operate the at least one electrical component of at least one of;

the intermediate device system and a second intermediate device system within the network; and

a communication module disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to the control unit, wherein the communication module is configured to form a bidirectional communication channel to;

facilitate transfer of the data set between the control unit of the intermediate device system and a remote client;

receive an incoming data set from the remote client, wherein the incoming data set comprises a second instruction set configured to operate the at least one of the plurality of electronic devices.

19. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 18, wherein the received incoming data set from the remote client triggers activation of the at least one electrical component of the at least one of:

the intermediate device system; and

a second intermediate device.

20. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 18, further comprising an upper section detachably coupled to a lower section to form the interior cavity, wherein:

the lower section is configured to receive the plurality of electronic devices; and

the upper section is detachably coupled to the lower section with a hinge that allows the lower section to swing out from the upper section as an access door.

21. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 18, wherein the housing further comprises an attachment system for receiving and detachably attaching to a portion of the pole structure.

22. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 18, further comprising a landing pad for receiving an unmanned aerial vehicle disposed on a top surface of the attachment system, wherein the landing pad is configured to receive power from the power supply.

The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 18, wherein the communication module is further configured to receive a second incoming data set from the remote client, wherein the second incoming data set comprises a second instruction set configured to operate at least one of the plurality of electronic devices.

The intermediate device system of claim 23, wherein the second incoming data set received from the remote client triggers activation of the at least of the plurality of electronic devices of the at least one of the intermediate device system, the second intermediate device, and a remote device.

25. An autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems, wherein each intermediate device system is configured to be detachably coupled to a pole structure electrically connected to a power source, comprising:

a housing, comprising;

an upper section detachably coupled to a lower section using a hinge to form an interior cavity between the upper section and a lower section to house a plurality of electronic devices;

an access button disposed on the lower section, wherein the access button is configured to release the lower section from the upper section when activated; and

an attachment system coupled to the exterior of the housing, wherein the attachment system is configured to detachably couple the intermediate device system to a portion of the pole structure, further comprising;

a mast attachment cavity and a mast arm attachment plate configured to be disposed within the mast attachment cavity to receive and fit around the portion of the pole structure; and

a top surface comprising a landing pad for receiving an unmanned aerial vehicle; and

a control unit disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to a processor, wherein the control unit is configured to;

receive and process substantially real-time information from at least one of the electronic devices; and

create a data set based on the received real-time information, wherein the data set comprises at least one of;

a parameter of a local environmental condition; and

an instruction set configured to operate the at least one electronic device of at least one of;

the intermediate device system and a second intermediate device system within the network; and

a communication module disposed within the interior cavity of the housing and communicatively coupled to the control unit, wherein the communication module is configured to form a bidirectional communication channel to;

facilitate transfer of the data set between the control unit of the intermediate device system and a second communication module of the second intermediate device system; and

receive an incoming data set from the second communication module of the second intermediate device system.

26. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 25, wherein the communication module is further configured to transmit the data set to a remote client.

The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 25, wherein the communication module is further configured to receive a second incoming data set from a remote client, wherein the second incoming data set comprises a second instruction set configured to operate the at least one electrical component.

28. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 25, wherein the second incoming data set received from the remote client triggers activation of the at least of the plurality of electronic devices of the at least one of the intermediate device system, the second intermediate device, and a remote device.

29. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 25, wherein the lower section comprises at least one auxiliary device receptacle.

30. The autonomous decentralized network of intermediate device systems of claim 25, further comprising a photovoltaic cell disposed on the exterior surface of the housing.
