1. A computer program storage product for performing byte caching in a wireless communication network device with a first byte caching system, the computer program storage product comprising:

  • a non-transitory storage medium readable by a processing circuit and storing instructions for execution by the processing circuit for performing a method comprising receiving a plurality of data packets through an internet protocol (IP) data flow established between a wireless communication device and at least one server;

    determining whether a second byte caching system is available;

    after determining that the second byte caching system is available, combining each of the plurality of data packets into a single packet bundle, wherein the combining comprises combining a payload from each of the plurality of data packets into a combined payload and storing the combined payload in the packet bundle;

    transforming the packet bundle, based on a second byte caching system being available, with one or more byte caching operations; and

    sending the transformed packet bundle to the second byte caching system via an IP communication mechanism.
