Abstract

Systems and methods disclosed herein provide efficacious pain management therapies based on delivery of physical medicine(s) via computer-implemented systems. Patient information comprising patient pain symptoms, patient physiological measurements, patient demographics, and other information is received at a pain therapy device. The patient information is compared with pain analytics data compiled on a plurality of individuals to determine a personalized pain management therapy. The personalized pain management therapy is applied via a combination of thermoceuticals, electroceuticals, ultrasound, and several other forms of physical medicine. Sensors coupled to the pain therapy device measure changes in physiological data resulting from the pain management therapy. The personalized pain management therapy can be adjusted based on the changes in the physiological data and/or patient feedback. The patient information, information about the applied therapy, and therapy outcome information is added to the analytics database.

Claims

1. A method for pain management therapy, comprising:

receiving patient information comprising patient pain symptoms and profile;

comparing the received patient information with pain analytics data compiled on a plurality of individuals to determine a personalized pain management therapy;

applying the personalized pain management therapy to deliver one or more of thermoceuticals or electroceuticals, in various combinations;

receiving updated patient information in response to the applied personalized pain management therapy; and

storing the updated patient information and the personalized pain management therapy in a database to add to the pain analytics data compiled on the plurality of individuals.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

adjusting, in response to the updated patient information, the personalized pain management therapy by adjusting the combination of thermoceuticals or electroceuticals; and

storing the adjusted personalized pain management therapy in the database to add to the pain analytics data.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the patient information and the updated patient information further comprise patient physiological data including one or more of patient vital signs, body or tissue temperature, blood flow rate, blood oxygen levels, or body tissue thickness or density.

The method of claim 1, wherein the patient information and the updated patient information are received at a pain therapy device, and wherein the personalized pain management therapy is applied by transmitting electronic signals to an applicator to deliver the thermoceuticals or electroceuticals, or combination thereof via the applicator(s).

The method of claim 4, wherein the patient information and the pain analytics data is stored in a memory of the pain therapy device or in a remotely connected database, and wherein the pain analytics data includes correlated patient information and patient feedback regarding pain therapy outcomes on the plurality of individuals.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein comparing the received patient information with pain analytics data to determine the personalized pain management therapy comprises:

identifying a subset of individuals from the plurality of individuals that have similar characteristics as the patient as indicated in the patient information; and

identifying, from the pain analytics data on the subset of individuals, a stored applied therapy associated with a stored therapy outcome indicating reduced pain symptoms, wherein the identified stored applied therapy corresponds to the personalized pain management therapy.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the patient information and the updated patient information are received by one or more sensors communicatively coupled to a pain therapy device or by user inputs received at a patient feedback interface.

8. A system, comprising:

a processor; and

a memory communicatively coupled to the processor, wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions included in the memory to perform operations comprising;

receiving patient information comprising patient pain symptoms;

comparing the received patient information with pain analytics data compiled on a plurality of individuals to determine a personalized pain management therapy;

applying the personalized pain management therapy to deliver one or more of thermoceuticals, electroceuticals, or ultrasonic therapy in various combinations;

receiving updated patient information in response to the applied personalized pain management therapy; and

storing the updated patient information and the personalized pain management therapy in a database to add to the pain analytics data compiled on the plurality of individuals.

9. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions included in the memory to perform operations further comprising:

adjusting, in response to the updated patient information, the personalized pain management therapy by adjusting the combination of thermoceuticals or electroceuticals or combination thereof; and

storing the adjusted personalized pain management therapy in the database to add to the pain analytics data.

10. The system of claim 9, wherein the patient information and the updated patient information further comprise patient physiological data including one or more of patient vital signs, blood flow rate, blood oxygen levels, or body tissue density.

The system of claim 8, wherein the patient information and the updated patient information are received at a pain therapy device, and wherein the personalized pain management therapy is applied by transmitting electronic signals to an applicator to deliver the combination of thermoceuticals or electroceuticals, or any combination thereof via the applicator.

The system of claim 11, wherein the patient information and the pain analytics data is stored in a memory of the pain therapy device or in a remotely connected database, and wherein the pain analytics data includes correlated patient information and patient feedback regarding pain therapy outcomes on the plurality of individuals.

13. The system of claim 12, wherein comparing the received patient information with pain analytics data to determine the personalized pain management therapy comprises:

identifying a subset of individuals from the plurality of individuals that have similar characteristics as the patient as indicated in the patient information; and

identifying, from the pain analytics data on the subset of individuals, a stored applied therapy associated with a stored therapy outcome indicating reduced pain symptoms, wherein the identified stored applied therapy corresponds to the personalized pain management therapy.

14. The system of claim 8, wherein the processor is configured to execute instructions included in the memory to perform operations further comprising:

transmitting the patient information and the personalized pain management therapy to a physician computing device.

15. A medical device for the application of a pain management therapy, comprising:

a processing device configured to drive inputs for one or more switches controlling characteristics of treatments comprising thermoceuticals, electroceuticals, ultrasound, or a combination thereof, the characteristics of the treatments corresponding to the pain management therapy;

an applicator, coupled to the one or more switches, the applicator configured to apply the treatments or a combination thereof based on the inputs to the one or more switches;

one or more sensors coupled to the processing device, the one or more sensors configured to

     1) detect physiological parameters responsive to the application of the treatments or combination thereof and

     2) provide the physiological parameters to the processing device; and

a patient feedback interface communicatively coupled to the processing device, the patient feedback interface configured to receive user inputs indicating patient feedback information responsive to the application of the treatments or combination thereof.

16. The medical device of claim 15, wherein the characteristics of the treatments or the combination thereof include intensity levels and time durations.

17. The medical device of claim 16, further comprising:

a therapy analysis engine executing in a memory communicatively coupled to the processing device, the therapy analysis engine comprising program code that, upon execution by the processing device, causes the processing device to adjust the intensity levels and the durations output by the one or more switches for the application of the treatments or combination thereof for an adjusted pain management therapy.

18. The medical device of claim 17, wherein the therapy analysis engine is configured to adjust the intensity levels and the durations based on the patient feedback information.

19. The medical device of claim 17, further comprising:

a server system interface engine executing in the memory, the server system interface engine comprising program code that, upon execution by the processing device, causes the medical device to receive pain analytics data specifying correlated patient information regarding pain therapy outcomes on a plurality of individuals,

wherein the therapy analysis engine is configured to adjust the intensity levels and the durations based on the pain analytics data.

20. The medical device of claim 15, wherein the physiological parameters comprise one or more of patient vital signs, body tissue or temperature, blood flow rate, blood oxygen levels, or body tissue thickness or density.
