1. A prosthetic capsular device configured to be inserted in a natural capsular bag of an eye after removal of a lens, the device comprising:

  • a housing structure capable of containing and insulating an electronic device, the housing structure including;

    a first lateral side, the first lateral side including;

    a first end, anda second end;

    a second lateral side opposite the first lateral side, the second lateral side including;

    a first end, anda second end;

    a third lateral side extending between the first end of the first lateral side and the first end of the second lateral side, the third lateral side comprising a first insulated structure capable of thermally insulating an eye from heat produced by an electronic device contained in the housing structure;

    a fourth lateral side extending between the second end of the first lateral side and the second end of the second lateral side, the fourth lateral side opposite the third lateral side, the fourth lateral side comprising a second insulated structure capable of thermally insulating an eye from heat produced by an electronic device contained in the housing structure;

    a posterior side including a refractive surface;

    an anterior side opposite the posterior side, the anterior side including an opening capable of allowing at least one of insertion, repair, removal, and replacement of an electronic device; and

    a longitudinal axis,the first lateral side, the second lateral side, the third lateral side, the fourth lateral side, the posterior side, and the anterior side at least partially defining a cavity, the cavity of the housing structure capable of containing an electronic device; and

    a ring structure including a ring structure portion extending radially outward from proximate one of the first end of the first lateral side, the second end of the first lateral side, the first end of the second lateral side, and the second end of the second lateral side, the ring structure comprising a capsular bag-contacting surface.
