Abstract

A system, method, and computer-readable medium for providing recommendations based on a user interest. The method includes: generating at least one signature for at least one multimedia content element; querying, based on the generated at least one signature, a user profile to identify the user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element; generating at least one contextual insight based on the user interest, wherein each contextual insight indicates a user preference; searching for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and causing a display of the at least one matching content item as a recommendation.

Claims

1. A method for providing recommendations based on a user interest, comprising:

generating at least one signature for at least one multimedia content element;

querying, based on the generated at least one signature, a user profile to identify the user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element;

generating at least one contextual insight based on the user interest, wherein each contextual insight indicates a user preference;

searching for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and

causing a display of the at least one matching content item as a recommendation.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

determining, based on the generated at least one signature, a concept associated with the at least one multimedia content element, wherein the at least one contextual insight is generated further based on the determined concept.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein searching for the matching at least one content item further comprises:

generating at least one contextual insight signature for the at least one contextual insight; and

matching the at least one contextual insight signature to content item signatures associated with a plurality of content items.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

generating the user profile;

determining, based on tracking information related to at least one user interaction with the at least one multimedia content element, a user impression of the at least one multimedia content element;

determining, based on the user impression, a user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element; and

saving the determined user interest in the user profile.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the tracking information further includes at least one of:

a measure of a period of time the user viewed each of the at least one multimedia content element, an indication of at least one user gesture detected over one of the at least one multimedia content element, an indication of whether the at least one multimedia content element was uploaded to an information source, an identification of the information source, and a unique identification code identifying the user.

6. The method of claim 4, wherein determining the user impression further comprises:

filtering the tracking information;

assigning a score to each of the at least one user interaction, wherein each score indicates a degree of impression indicated by the user interaction; and

computing a quantitative measure for the user impression based on the assigned at least one score.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

determining, for each of the at least one multimedia content element, if the user impression is positive, wherein each of the generated at least one signature is generated for a multimedia content element having a positive user impression.

8. The method of claim 1, wherein the querying of the user profile is further based on the determined concept, wherein the user interest is determined further by mapping the determined concept to the user interest using an association table.

9. The method of claim 1, wherein the concept is determined by querying a concept-based database using the generated at least one signature.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein the generated at least one signature is robust to noise and distortions.

11. The method of claim 1, wherein each multimedia content element is at least one of:

an image, graphics, a video stream, a video clip, an audio stream, an audio clip, a video frame, a photograph, and images of signals.

12. The method of claim 1, wherein the concept is a collection of signatures representing at least one conceptually related multimedia content element and metadata describing the concept, wherein the collection of signatures is a signature reduced cluster generated by inter-matching signatures generated for the at least one multimedia content element.

13. The method of claim 1, wherein each signature is generated by a signature generator system, wherein the signature generator system includes a plurality of computational cores configured to receive a plurality of unstructured data elements, each computational core of the plurality of computational cores having properties that are at least partly statistically independent of other of the computational cores, the properties are set independently of each other core.

14. The method of claim 1, wherein the at least one multimedia content element is retrieved from a local storage.

15. A non-transitory computer readable medium having stored thereon instructions for causing a processing system to perform a method for providing recommendations based on a user interest, wherein the instructions cause the processing system to:

generate at least one signature for at least one multimedia content element;

query, based on the generated at least one signature, a user profile to identify a user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element;

generate at least one contextual insight based on the user interest, wherein each contextual insight indicates a user preference;

search for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and

cause a display of the at least one matching content item to a user node as a recommendation.

16. A system for providing recommendations based on a user interest, comprising:

a processing system; and

a memory, wherein the memory contains instructions that, when executed by the processing system, configure the system to;

generate at least one signature for the received at least one multimedia content element;

query, based on the generated at least one signature, a user profile to identify the user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element;

generate at least one contextual insight based on the user interest, wherein each contextual insight indicates a user preference;

search for at least one content item that matches the at least one contextual insight; and

cause a display of the at least one matching content item to a user node as a recommendation.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the system is further configured to:

determine, based on the generated at least one signature, a concept of the at least one multimedia content element, wherein the at least one contextual insight is generated further based on the determined concept.

18. The system of claim 16, wherein the system is further configured to:

generate at least one contextual insight signature for the at least one contextual insight; and

match the at least one contextual insight signature to content item signatures associated with a plurality of content items.

19. The system of claim 18, wherein the system is further configured to:

generate the user profile;

determine, based on tracking information related to at least one user interaction with the at least one multimedia content element, a user impression of the at least one multimedia content element;

determine, based on the user impression, a user interest related to the at least one multimedia content element; and

save the determined user interest in the user profile.

20. The system of claim 19, wherein the tracking information further includes at least one of:

a measure of a period of time the user viewed each of the at least one multimedia content element, an indication of at least one user gesture detected over one of the at least one multimedia content element, an indication of whether the at least one multimedia content element was uploaded to an information source, an identification of the information source, and a unique identification code identifying the user.

21. The system of claim 19, wherein the system is further configured to:

filter the tracking information;

assign a score to each of the at least one user interaction, wherein each score indicates a degree of impression indicated by the user interaction; and

compute a quantitative measure for the user impression based on the assigned at least one score.

22. The system of claim 21, wherein the system is further configured to:

determine, for each of the at least one multimedia content element, if the user impression is positive, wherein each of the generated at least one signature is generated for a multimedia content element having a positive user impression.

23. The system of claim 17, wherein the querying of the user profile is further based on the determined concept, wherein the user interest is determined further by mapping the determined concept to the user interest using an association table.

24. The system of claim 17, wherein the concept is determined by querying a concept-based database using the generated at least one signature.

25. The system of claim 16, wherein the generated at least one signature is robust to noise and distortions.

26. The system of claim 16, wherein each multimedia content element is at least one of:

an image, graphics, a video stream, a video clip, an audio stream, an audio clip, a video frame, a photograph, and images of signals.

The system of claim 16, wherein the concept is a collection of signatures representing at least one conceptually related multimedia content element and metadata describing the concept, wherein the collection of signatures is a signature reduced cluster generated by inter-matching signatures generated for the at least one multimedia content element.

28. The system of claim 16, further comprising:

a signature generator system, wherein each of the generated at least one signature is generated by the signature generator system, wherein the signature generator system includes a plurality of computational cores configured to receive a plurality of unstructured data elements, each computational core of the plurality of computational cores having properties that are at least partly statistically independent of other of the computational cores, the properties are set independently of each other core.

29. The system of claim 16, further comprising:

a storage including a plurality of multimedia content elements, wherein the system is further configured to;

retrieve the at least one multimedia content element from the storage.
