Abstract

A system, a medium, and a method are provided to split data paths among various devices in data communications system. In some instances, the server device receives a request from a remote device such as a website server or a checkout device, where the request indicates a user request to purchase one or more items. An account management component of the server device determines a user account associated with the user request and identifies a user device associated with the user account, such as the user'"'"'s smartphone. An authentication component of the server device generates an electronic message that indicates that the user must authenticate the request such that the request may be processed and initiates a transmittal of the electronic message to the user'"'"'s smartphone. The user may accept or authenticate the request to process the request. As such, a communication interface of the server device may receive user data from the user'"'"'s smartphone in response to the transmittal of the electronic message, possibly to process the request.

Claims

1. A system, comprising:

a server device that receives a request from a remote device, wherein the request indicates a user request to purchase one or more items;

an account management component of the server device that;

determines a user account associated with the user request to purchase the one or more items; and

determines a user device associated with the user account;

an authentication component of the server device that;

generates an electronic message that indicates a request to approve the user request; and

initiates a transmittal of the electronic message to the user device; and

a communication interface of the server device that receives user data from the user device in response to the transmittal of the electronic message that indicates the request to approve the user request.

2. The system of claim 1, wherein the remote device is at least one of a website server, a second user device associated with the user account, and/or a merchant device.

3. The system of claim 1, wherein authentication component further:

determines the user data received comprises authentication data; and

determines a successful authentication of the user request to purchase the one or more items based on at least the authentication data, and wherein the server device further processes the user request to purchase the one or more items based on at least the successful authentication.

4. The system of claim 3, wherein the authentication component further generates a second electronic message that indicates the successful authentication of the user request and initiates a transmittal of the second electronic message to at least one of the remote device or the user device.

5. The system of claim 3, wherein the authentication data comprises biometric data received by the user device, and wherein the biometric data comprises at least one of fingerprint data, eye data, and pulse data.

6. The system of claim 1, wherein the authentication component further:

determines the user data does not include authentication data required to authenticate the user request;

generates a second electronic message that indicates a failed authentication of the user request; and

initiates a transmittal of the second electronic message to at least one of the remote device and the user device.

7. The system of claim 1, wherein the authentication component further:

determines a time period to process the purchase of the one or more items, wherein the time period is begins at a time of the transmittal of the electronic message to the user device; and

determines whether the user request is timed out based on whether a time the user data is received is within the time period.

8. The system of claim 1, wherein the authentication component further:

determines the user data received indicates a time the user device accessed the transmitted electronic message;

determines a time period to process the one or more items, wherein the time period begins at the time the user device accessed the transmitted electronic message and ends at a time the user data is received; and

determines whether the user request is timed out based on whether the determined time period is greater than or equal to a threshold time period.

9. A non-transitory computer-readable medium having stored thereon instructions that, when executed by a server device, cause the server device to perfonn operations comprising:

receiving, by a communication interface of the server device, data generated from a website or an app server, wherein the data generated comprises a user request to purchase one or more items for a user account, and wherein the user request comprises contact information associated with the user account;

generating, by one or more components of the server device, an electronic message that indicates a request to approve the user request;

transmitting, by the communication interface, the electronic message to a user device associated with the user account;

receiving, by the communication interface, user data from the user device in response to the transmitted electronic message, wherein the user data indicates an approval of the user request to purchase the one or more items; and

processing, by the one or more components, the user request to purchase the one or more items for the user account.

10. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein the contact information comprises a phone number associated with the user device.

11. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein transmitting the electronic message to the user device comprises transmitting a link to the user device, the operations further comprising enabling the user device to initiate a payment app through the transmitted link.

12. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 11, wherein processing the user request to purchase the one or more items for the user account comprises processing the user request through the payment app initiated on the user device.

13. The non-transitory computer-readable medium of claim 9, wherein the user data received from the user device comprises at least one of biometric data, a password, and/or a PIN number.

14. A method comprising:

receiving, by a communication interface of a server device, data generated by a website or an app on a first user device, wherein the data generated comprises a user request to purchase one or more items, and wherein the user request comprises a phone number associated with a user account;

generating, by one or more components of the server device, an electronic message that indicates a request to approve the user request, wherein the generated electronic message comprises a link that provides access to a payment app;

transmitting, by the communication interface, the generated electronic message and the link to a second user device associated with the phone number;

enabling the payment app to be opened on the second user device based on at least a selection of the link through the second user device;

receiving, by the communication interface, authentication data from the second user device in response to the transmitted electronic message and the link; and

processing the purchase of the one or more items based at least on the authentication data received.

15. The method of claim 14, wherein the user request to purchase the one or more items comprises a description of each of the one or more items and an indication of a total cost of the one or more items.

16. The method of claim 14, wherein the first user device and the second user device are identified by the user account.

17. The method of claim 16, the method further comprising:

determining a threshold radius of the second user device;

determining the first user device is within the threshold radius of the second user device; and

transmitting the generated electronic message to the second user device based on at least the first user device being within the threshold radius of the second user device.

18. The method of claim 16, wherein determining the threshold radius of the second user device comprises determining user preferences of the user account indicating the threshold radius of the second user device.

19. The method of 14, the method further comprising:

determining a successful authentication of the user request to purchase the one or more items based on at least the authentication data, and

processing the user request to purchase the one or more items based on at least the successful authentication.

20. The method of 14, the method further comprising causing the second user device to display the generated electronic message, wherein the second user device comprises a wearable computing device.
