Abstract
A surgical instrument. The surgical instrument has a force delivery system which communicates a changing force to a user of the surgical instrument when a limit of a surgical function is reached. A sensor senses position of a moving element to communicate a signal to the force delivery system. In various embodiments, the system generates a vibratory force to signal the user.

16. A surgical instrument system, comprising:
-
a handle assembly; a shaft extending from said handle assembly and defining a shaft axis; an articulation joint; an end effector attached to said shaft by way of said articulation joint, wherein said end effector is configured to be articulated relative to said shaft axis between a first position and a second position, said end effector comprising; a first jaw; a second jaw movable relative to said first jaw; a staple cartridge comprising a plurality of staples removably stored within said staple cartridge, wherein said staples are configured to be ejected from said staple cartridge; and an anvil configured to deform said staples; and a motor configured to provide a vibratory force to a user of said surgical instrument system through said handle assembly to signal the user when said end effector moves into said first position and when said end effector moves into said second position. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)

23. A surgical instrument system, comprising:
-
a handle assembly; a shaft extending from said handle assembly and defining a shaft axis; an articulation joint, wherein said articulation joint defines an articulation axis which is transverse to said shaft axis; an end effector attached to said shaft by way of said articulation joint, wherein said end effector is configured to be articulated relative to said shaft axis between a first position and a second position, said end effector comprising; a first jaw; a second jaw movable relative to said first jaw; a staple cartridge comprising a plurality of staples removably stored within said staple cartridge, wherein said staples are configured to be ejected from said staple cartridge; and an anvil configured to deform said staples; and a tactile feedback system configured to provide tactile feedback to a user of said surgical instrument system through said handle assembly when said end effector assumes said first position and when said end effector assumes said second position. - View Dependent Claims (24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30)

31. A surgical instrument system, comprising:
-
a handle assembly; a shaft extending from said handle assembly and defining a shaft axis; an articulation joint defining an articulation axis which is transverse to said shaft axis; an end effector attached to said shaft, wherein said end effector is configured to be articulated relative to said shaft about said articulation axis by way of said articulation joint, said end effector comprising; a first jaw; a second jaw movable relative to said first jaw; a staple cartridge, comprising; a plurality of staples removably stored within said staple cartridge, wherein said staples are configured to be ejected from said staple cartridge; and a firing stroke length defined by a first firing stroke position where none of said staples have been fired and a second firing stroke position where all of said staples have been fired; and an anvil configured to deform said staples; and a firing system comprising a firing member configured to eject said staples from said staple cartridge; and means for providing tactile feedback to a user of said surgical instrument system through said handle assembly when said firing member reaches said second firing stroke position. - View Dependent Claims (32, 33, 34)
