1. A system for managing power on an electric power grid, comprising:
- a server operable for communicating IP-based messages with distributed power consuming devices and distributed power supplying devices;
a database operable for storing load and supply resource information comprising an amount of power available to be reduced by each of the distributed power consuming devices and an amount of power available to be supplied by each of the distributed power supplying devices and generating a supply equivalence value for each of the distributed power consuming devices based on the power available to be consumed by each of the distributed power consuming devices;
wherein the system is operable to provide operating reserves and make financial settlements based on the supply equivalence value for each of the distributed power consuming devices and the power available to be supplied by each of the distributed power supplying devices; and
wherein the server is operable to receive or initiate power control commands requiring a change in an amount of electric power consumed by the distributed power consuming device and/or a change in an amount of power supplied by the distributed power supplying devices.

14. A system for managing power on an electric power grid, comprising:

a server operable for communicating IP-based messages with distributed power consuming devices and distributed power supplying devices; a database for storing information comprising an amount of power available to be reduced by each of the distributed power consuming devices and an amount of power available to be supplied by each of the distributed power supplying devices and generating a power supply value (PSV) for each of the distributed power consuming devices based on the amount of power available to be reduced by each of the distributed power consuming devices; wherein the PSV is confirmed by measurement and verification of reduction in consumed power;
wherein the PSV is a supply equivalence presented to a governing entity for awarding an entity allowed to control power consuming devices;
wherein the PSV provides for a curtailment value as a requirement for providing supply to the electric power grid;wherein the server is operable to receive or initiate power control commands requiring a change in an amount of electric power consumed by the distributed power consuming device and/or a change in an amount of power supplied by the distributed power supplying devices; wherein the system is operable to form at least one Power Trade Block (PTB) unit by aggregating the PSV of each of the plurality of the distributed power consuming devices in real time; and wherein the system is operable to provide operating reserves based upon the PSV for each of the distributed power consuming devices and/or the at least one PTB. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20)
