Abstract

A display device including a display; a first external input unit configured to receive first content provided from a first external device; a second external input unit configured to receive second content from a second external device; and a controller configured to store, in a memory, a first thumbnail of the first content if the first content is displayed on the display for more than a predetermined time, to store, in the memory, a second thumbnail of the second content if the second content is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time, and to display, on the display, a source list with the stored first thumbnail of the first content. Further, the source list represents the first and second external devices.

Claims

1. A display device, comprising:

a display;

a first external input unit configured to receive first content provided from a first external device;

a second external input unit configured to receive second content from a second external device; and

a controller configured to;

store, in a memory, a first thumbnail of the first content if the first content is displayed on the display for more than a predetermined time,

store, in the memory, a second thumbnail of the second content if the second content is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time, and

display, on the display, a source list with the stored first thumbnail of the first content,

wherein the source list represents the first and second external devices.

2. The display device of claim 1, wherein the controller is configured to display the source list with the stored first thumbnail on the display in response to a request from a remote controller.

3. The display device of claim 1, further comprising:

a broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast signal,

wherein the controller is further configured to;

display a broadcast program included in the broadcast signal on the display, and

store, in the memory, a third thumbnail of the broadcast program if the broadcast program is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time.

4. The display device according to claim 3, wherein the broadcast program corresponds to a real-time broadcasting content received by a tuner included in the broadcast receiver.

5. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the source list further includes at least one of titles of the first and second content, names of the first and second external devices, or access paths of the first and second external devices.

The display device according to claim 1, wherein the first thumbnail of the first content is displayed in the source list in a state that the first external device is connected to the display device, and the second thumbnail of the second content is not displayed on the source list in a state that the second external device is not connected to the display device.

7. The display device according to claim 1, wherein if the first thumbnail corresponding to the first content is selected, the controller is further configured to display the first content on the display by accessing the first external device.

8. The display device according to claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to display the source list on an initial screen when the display device is turned on.

9. The display device according to claim 1, further comprising:

an image signal processor including a decoder for decoding video data; and

a scaler configured to convert the video data to be fit for a vertical frequency, a resolution, and an aspect ratio, which are an output standard of the display.

11. A display device, comprising:

a display;

a first external input unit configured to receive first content provided from a first external device;

a second external input unit configured to receive second content from a second external device; and

a controller configured to;

store, in a memory, a first thumbnail of the first content if the first content is displayed on the display for more than a predetermined time,

store, in the memory, a second thumbnail of the second content if the second content is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time, and

display, on the display, a source list representing the first and second external devices in response to a request received from a remote controller,

wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to display the stored first thumbnail of the first content on the source list in a state that the first external device is connected to the display device, and

wherein the controller is further configured to control the display to display the stored second thumbnail of the second content on the source list in a state that the second external device is connected to the display device.

10. The display device according to claim 11, wherein one of the first external device and the second external device is a terrestrial broadcasting, a storage media which is fixed or detachable to the display device, a Digital Video Disc player, or set-top box.

12. The display device of claim 11, wherein the controller is further configured to display the source list with the stored first thumbnail and the stored second thumbnail on the display in response to the request from the remote controller.

13. The display device of claim 11, further comprising:

a broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast signal,

wherein the controller is further configured to;

store, in the memory, a third thumbnail of a broadcast program included in the broadcast signal if the broadcast program is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time.

14. The display device according to claim 13, wherein the broadcast program corresponds to a real-time broadcasting content received by a tuner included in the broadcast receiver.

15. The display device according to claim 11, wherein the source list further includes at least one of titles of the first and second content, names of the first and second external devices, or access paths of the first and second external devices.

16. The display device according to claim 11, wherein the first thumbnail of the first content is displayed in the source list in a state that the first external device is connected to the display device, and the second thumbnail of the second content is not displayed on the source list in a state that the second external device is not connected to the display device.

17. The display device according to claim 11, wherein if the first thumbnail corresponding to the first content is selected on the source list, the controller is further configured to display the first content on the display by accessing the first external device.

18. The display device according to claim 11, wherein the controller is further configured to display the source list on an initial screen when the display device is turned on.

19. The display device according to claim 11, further comprising:

an image signal processor including a decoder for decoding video data; and

a scaler configured to convert the video data to be fit for a vertical frequency, a resolution, and an aspect ratio, which are an output standard of the display.

20. The display device according to claim 11, wherein one of the first external device and the second external device is a terrestrial broadcasting, a storage media which is fixed or detachable to the display device, a Digital Video Disc player, or set-top box.

21. A display device, comprising:

a display;

a first external input unit configured to receive first content provided from a first external device;

a second external input unit configured to receive second content from a second external device; and

a controller configured to;

store, in a memory, a first thumbnail of the first content if the first content is displayed on the display for more than a predetermined time,

store, in the memory, a second thumbnail of the second content if the second content is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time, and

display, on the display, a source list representing the first and second external devices in response to a request received from a remote controller,

wherein the stored first thumbnail of the first content is displayable on the source list in a state the first external device is connected to the display device, and

wherein the stored second thumbnail of the second content is displayable on the source list in a state the second external device is connected to the display device.

22. The display device of claim 21, wherein the controller is further configured to display the source list with the stored first thumbnail and the stored second thumbnail on the display in response to the request from the remote controller.

23. The display device of claim 22, further comprising:

a broadcast receiver configured to receive a broadcast signal,

wherein the controller is further configured to;

store, in the memory, a third thumbnail of a broadcast program included in the broadcast signal if the broadcast program is displayed on the display for more than the predetermined time.

24. The display device according to claim 23, wherein the broadcast program corresponds to a real-time broadcasting content received by a tuner included in the broadcast receiver.

25. The display device according to claim 21, wherein the source list further includes at least one of titles of the first and second content, names of the first and second external devices, or access paths of the first and second external devices.

The display device according to claim 21, wherein the first thumbnail of the first content is displayed in the source list in a state that the first external device is connected to the display device, and the second thumbnail of the second content is not displayed on the source list in a state that the second external device is not connected to the display device.

27. The display device according to claim 21, wherein if the first thumbnail corresponding to the first content is selected on the source list, the controller is further configured to display the first content on the display by accessing the first external device.

28. The display device according to claim 21, wherein the controller is further configured to display the source list on an initial screen when the display device is turned on.

29. The display device according to claim 21, further comprising:

an image signal processor including a decoder for decoding video data; and

a scaler configured to convert the video data to be fit for a vertical frequency, a resolution, and an aspect ratio, which are an output standard of the display.
