Abstract

Disclosed are novel engineered fuel feed stocks, feed stocks produced by the described processes, and methods of making the fuel feed stocks. Components derived from processed MSW waste streams can be used to make such feed stocks which are substantially free of glass, metals, grit and noncombustibles. These feed stocks are useful for a variety of purposes including as gasification and combustion fuels.

77. An engineered fuel feed stock, comprising at least one component derived from a processed waste stream, the engineered fuel feed stock comprising:

a carbon content of between about 60 wt. % and about 70 wt. %;

a hydrogen content of between about 3 wt. % and about 10 wt. %,

a moisture content of less than about 30 wt. %;

an ash content of less than about 10 wt. %; and

wherein the engineered fuel feed stock contains substantially no glass, metals, grit, and noncombustibles.

78. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

a sulfur content of less than about 2 wt. %.

79. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

a chlorine content of less than about 1 wt. %.

80. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, wherein the moisture content is between about 5 wt. % and about 30 wt. %.

81. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

an HHV of between about 11,000 BTU/lb and about 15,000 BTU/lb.

82. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

a volatile matter content of between about 40 wt. % and about 80 wt. %.

83. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

a volatile matter content of between about 80 wt. % and about 95 wt. %.

84. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

an H/C ratio of between about 0.025 (w/w) and about 0.20 (w/w).

85. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 84, wherein the H/C ratio is between about 0.08 (w/w) and about 0.15 (w/w).

86. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 85, wherein the H/C ratio is between about 0.11 to about 0.15.

87. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, where in the hydrogen content is between about 6 wt. % and about 9 wt. %

88. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, further comprising:

an O/C ratio of between about 0.15 (w/w) to about 0.3 (w/w).

89. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, wherein the processed waste stream is a processed MSW waste stream.

90. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 89, wherein the processed MSW waste stream contains biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

91. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 77, wherein the engineered fuel feed stock is in a densified form.

92. An engineered fuel feed stock, comprising at least one component derived from a processed MSW waste stream, the engineered fuel feed stock comprising:

an H/C ratio of between about 0.025 (w/w) and about 0.20 (w/w);

an O/C from about 0.15 (w/w) to about 0.3 (w/w);

a moisture content of less than about 30 wt. %;

an ash content of less than about 10 wt. %; and

wherein the MSW waste stream contains biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and the engineered fuel feed stock contains substantially no glass, metals, grit, and noncombustible waste.

93. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 92, further comprising:

a hydrogen content of between about 3 wt. % and about 10 wt. %

94. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 92, further comprising:

a carbon content of between about 60 wt. % and about 70 wt. %;

95. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 92, further comprising:

an HHV of between about 11,000 BTU/lb and about 15,000 BTU/lb.

96. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 92, wherein the engineered fuel feed stock is in a densified form.

97. An engineered fuel feed stock, comprising at least one component derived from a processed MSW waste stream, the engineered fuel feed stock comprising:

a carbon content of between about 60 wt. % and about 70 wt. %;

a hydrogen content of between about 3 wt. % and about 10 wt. %,

an H/C ratio of between about 0.025 (w/w) and about 0.20 (w/w);

an O/C ratio from about 0.15 (w/w) to about 0.3 (w/w);

a moisture content of less than about 30 wt. %;

an ash content of less than about 10 wt. %; and

wherein the MSW waste stream contains biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste and the engineered fuel feed stock contains substantially no glass, metals, grit, and noncombustible waste.

98. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 97, further comprising:

an HHV of between about 11,000 BTU/lb and about 15,000 BTU/lb.

99. The engineered fuel feed stock of claim 97, wherein the engineered fuel feed stock is in a densified form.
