Abstract

In an embodiment, a method manages data integrity of an electronic form. In the method, a request from a client device for access to the electronic form is received. Access is provided during a session to the electronic form to the client device, wherein the electronic form is configured to receive user input into fields of the electronic form via the client device, the user input comprising one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form, transmit the user input to at least one computing device, and transmit a publication request message to the at least one computing device, the publication request message indicative of an end of a session. The user input is received. During the session and before receiving the publication request message, the one or more field values of the user input is updated in a pre-publication database. The publication request is received, and in response to receiving the publication request message, a post-publication database is updated with the one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to a mapping of pre-publication database fields and post-publication database fields.

Claims

1. A computer-implemented method for managing data integrity of an electronic form, comprising:

receiving, by at least one computing device, a request from a client device for access to the electronic form;

providing, by the at least one computing device, access during a session to the electronic form to the client device, wherein the electronic form is configured to;

receive user input into fields of the electronic form via the client device, the user input comprising one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form,

transmit the user input to the at least one computing device, and

transmit a publication request message to the at least one computing device, the publication request message indicative of an end of a session;

receiving, by the at least one computing device, the user input;

updating, by the at least one computing device during the session and before receiving the publication request message, the one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database;

receiving, by the at least one computing device, the publication request message; and

in response to receiving the publication request message, updating a post-publication database with the one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to a mapping of pre-publication database fields and post-publication database fields.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

populating one or more of the fields of the electronic form with values from at least one of the pre-publication database or the post-publication database.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the pre-publication database comprises a document-oriented database, the post-publication database comprises a relational database, and the mapping maps fields in the document-oriented database to fields in the relational database.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

updating the pre-publication database with values from the post-publication database.

5. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving, by at least one computing device, a second request for access to the electronic form after the session has ended;

providing, by the at least one computing device, access during a second session to the electronic form to the client device;

receiving, by the at least one computing device, a second user input from the client device, the second user input comprising a second one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form; and

updating, by the at least one computing device during the second session and before receiving a second publication request message indicative of an end of the second session, the second one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database.

6. The method of claim 5, further comprising:

receiving, by the at least one computing device, the second publication request message;

if the second publication request message is received before a predetermined time, updating the post-publication database with the second one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to the mapping; and

if the second publication request message is not received before a predetermined time, disregarding the second publication request message.

7. A system for managing data integrity of an electronic form, comprising:

a memory; and

at least one processor coupled to the memory and configured to;

receive a request from a client device for access to the electronic form,

providing access during a session to the electronic form to the client device, wherein the electronic form is configured to;

receive user input into fields of the electronic form via the client device, the user input comprising one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form,

transmit the user input to the at least one processor, and

transmit a publication request message to the at least one processor, the publication request message indicative of an end of a session;

receive the user input;

update during the session and before receiving the publication request message, the one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database;

receive the publication request message; and

in response to receiving the publication request message, update a post-publication database with the one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to a mapping of pre-publication database fields and post-publication database fields.

8. The system of claim 7, the at least one processor further configured to:

populate one or more of the fields of the electronic form with values from at least one of the pre-publication database or the post-publication database.

9. The system of claim 7, wherein the pre-publication database comprises a document-oriented database, the post-publication database comprises a relational database, and the mapping maps fields in the document-oriented database to fields in the relational database.

10. The system of claim 7, the at least one processor further configured to:

update the pre-publication database with values from the post-publication database.

11. The system of claim 7, the at least one processor further configured to:

receive a second request for access to the electronic form after the session has ended;

provide access during a second session to the electronic form to the client device;

receive a second user input from the client device, the second user input comprising a second one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form; and

update during the second session and before receiving a second publication request message indicative of an end of the second session, the second one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database.

12. The system of claim 11, the at least one processor further configured to:

receive the second publication request message;

if the second publication request message is received before a predetermined time, update the post-publication database with the second one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to the mapping; and

if the second publication request message is not received before a predetermined time, disregard the second publication request message.

13. A program storage device tangibly embodying a program of instructions executable by at least one machine to perform a method for managing data integrity of an electronic form, said method comprising:

receiving a request from a client device for access to the electronic form;

providing access during a session to the electronic form to the client device, wherein the electronic form is configured to;

receive user input into fields of the electronic form via the client device, the user input comprising one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form,

transmit the user input to the at least one machine, and

transmit a publication request message to the at least one machine, the publication request message indicative of an end of a session;

receiving the user input;

updating during the session and before receiving the publication request message, the one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database;

receiving the publication request message; and

in response to receiving the publication request message, updating a post-publication database with the one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to a mapping of pre-publication database fields and post-publication database fields.

14. The program storage device of claim 13, the method further comprising:

populating one or more of the fields of the electronic form with values from at least one of the pre-publication database or the post-publication database.

15. The program storage device of claim 13, wherein the pre-publication database comprises a document-oriented database, the post-publication database comprises a relational database, and the mapping maps fields in the document-oriented database to fields in the relational database.

16. The program storage device of claim 13, the method further comprising:

updating the pre-publication database with values from the post-publication database.

17. The program storage device of claim 13, the method further comprising:

receiving a second request for access to the electronic form after the session has ended;

providing access during a second session to the electronic form to the client device;

receiving second user input from the client device, the second user input comprising a second one or more field values corresponding to the fields of the electronic form; and

updating during the second session and before receiving a second publication request message indicative of an end of the second session, the second one or more field values of the user input in a pre-publication database.

18. The program storage device of claim 17, the method further comprising:

receiving the second publication request message;

if the second publication request message is received before a predetermined time, updating the post-publication database with the second one or more field values stored in the pre-publication database according to the mapping; and

if the second publication request message is not received before a predetermined time, disregarding the second publication request message.
